That’s what I’ve done! Was thinking about this recently and would love to hear from Japanese people as well, but, I work in municipal government in Japan and I have two small magnets of the pride flag and trans flag visible on my desk, plus a very small pride flag pin on my name tag 🏳️🌈

The first panel shows a crow with the title "How to live a good life". The second panel shows a crow cawing at itself in the mirror with the subheading "Make friends". The next panel says "Explore" and shows a crow looking into a commercial waste bin. The next says "Try new things" with a crow eating something vile. The next one says "Be curious" and shows the crow grabbing a hissing cat's tail". The final frame says "Get a hobby" and shows the crow looking closely at a book of matches.

Even had some fresh thyme* (I wish I had a friend named Eve)
A round puff pastry tart with purple-pink potatoes alternating with white potatoes and leeks. Some sprigs of thyme rest on top.
Found these wee pink-purple potatoes by pure accident and was inspired to bake a tart with them. Made some rough puff pastry dough and used some homemade ricotta blended with feta as a base. Eve had some fresh thyme on hand to add in!
This is so, so well-articulated.
One thing I absolutely love about the local Mr. Donuts is the free cafe au lait refills. Staff comes by with a wee basket of sugar and milk in one hand and a thermos in the other and graces us all with free refills with a sweet wee smile. Bless.
You're also able to make this space bigger, which is even more amazing. You have a beautiful room in you, and you allow it to expand forever. Not too shabby, human.
Did you know if you see something beautiful it's not because it's beautiful but because you've set aside space within yourself for recognizing beautiful things. That's pretty dang hopeful.
I Work Very Hard, And I Would Like To Try Cake By A Horse Hello. I am a horse. I work very hard at my job of being a horse. When humans say move the heavy thing, I move the heavy thing. When humans sit on top of me and pull on my head, I carry them where they want to go. The main food the humans give me is hay and oats. But I am thinking it would be nice to have a different food. I am thinking I would like to try cake. Yes, yes. Cake. I know all about it. When humans eat cake, it is in glad times. It is the food for a celebration, such as when a woman becomes 47. I have seen cake on the Fourth of July. When humans have a cake, they stand around it and clap hands and smile and say happy birthday at each other. Sometimes there are beautiful markings on a cake, such as balloons or a pink shape. Sometimes the top of a cake is on fire and a boy must blow on the fire with mouth wind. This is the scariest cake. I do not want this kind. But I will eat any other cake. Any cake that is not the fire cake that tries to kill the boy. Please understand: I do not get money for doing work. I do not get to go inside the house. All I am either doing my horse job or standing in my pen or eating food off the floor. I always do these things. But I have never once gotten cake and I would like it very much. I have noticed that human children get to eat cake. But I am bigger than the children. I am more helpful to the farm. Children do not move the heavy things like me or let anyone ride on them. And yet they get cake. Maybe the humans will realize this. Maybe they will say, "You know who deserves cake? That horse. That horse whose back we are always on." Every day I dream about what it will be like if I get to eat cake. Here is what will happen. First, I will walk to the cake and putt my nose at it like hrrfff to make and stomping my hooves to make sure it is not a snake. Then I will trot in a circle to show that I am a horse and I am large. After that, I will nuzzle the cake to …
The horse op-ed is an instant classic. I can't tell you how much joy this piece gives me.
It should be taught in every introductory writing class in no small part because the horse arguments are so compelling. "I have noticed that human children get to eat cake. But I am bigger than the children."

Happy Trans Day of Visibility ❤️🏳️⚧️❤️
- Trans people are cool.
- Conversion therapy is abuse.
- Transphobia is Nazism.
- Love has no exceptions and no limits.
Happy trans day of visibility! 🙏
Incredible shot 🌕
This is what it looks like passing through Yoyogi Park today. And now that you know this, you don’t have to go. You’re welcome.
The moon surrounded by glowy and ethereal cherry blossoms against the dark night sky
I had a black yukata with cherry blossoms on it that inspired this photo last night (taken in Asa-cho, Hiroshima)
What you think of the quality of HP, whether you think it's bad or good or embarrassing or important, doesn't matter. What matters is its author is making money off it to funnel into stripping trans people of their rights. I'd give up literally anything if that was the consequence of loving it.
Sky Tree is the ultimate diva 💅
if you watch or support this you're a bad person btw. i'm not arguing with you about it either
Translation is such a weird, fussy art. I've been sitting here trying to decide whether "That's not it" or "It's not that" works better for the story/character voice, even though I know absolutely no one will pay any attention to such a minor, throw-away line anyway.
Awesome interview with Jim Rion about his work translating Uketsu!

Great article on translation via the plagiarism algorithm, but especially this line: "An AI translation is fluff, it is slop and it is void." I need to put this on cards to hand out to Japanese publishing execs.
Tiny green Mejiro on pink cherry blossoms against green and white bokeh background as the light spills perfectly through the trees. Does not actually know what a calendar holiday is.
Good morning Tokyo. This little bird would like to remind you that Friday is a holiday.

Kinda in love with these tech logos redesigned with a 1980s look by Kostya Petrenko (@kxdgraphics on Instagram). He's got a bunch more, too:
