Why Can’t the U.S. Build 5-Minute E.V. Chargers?

2/ A good question in NYTimes:
"Why Can’t US Build 5-Minute E.V. Chargers?"
Answer: Lacks both
-batteries capable of charging quickly
-chargers that can deliver power from grid quickly
And closes itself off from Chinese science and innovation & destroys its own...

This Isn't Trading. It's Theft from Your Retirement. Someone keeps making perfectly-timed bets right before the President speaks. The victims are your pension, your 401(k), and the country I took an oath to defend.

Fifteen minutes before the President announced he was pausing strikes on Iran, somebody moved $500 million in oil futures. Somebody knew. Somebody told them. Or somebody is them.

And soldiers and their children and spouses and the fighting capacity of the military. Trying to imagine flu breaking out in the confines of a submarine or ship. Of course, they have plenty of nutritious food, right?

There's a global race to secure EV battery gigafactories & reduce reliance on China.

But not all clean-tech projects are created equal. Some generate good jobs & domestic capacities, others produce ecological harm & low value-added enclaves.

No, it isn’t good. Anyway OSHA would IIRC require 14-15 toilets for 500 people (plus a few more for staff) so this is consistent with the administration’s desire to create Dachau style concentration camps. Death and disease are part of the program.

Seems counterproductive but you need to understand county tax politics: they get property tax revenue (eventually) w/o any need for public investment in schools and infrastructure. More employees = more children + more traffic, etc.
Probably also some gratuities…

The problem with centrist Dems is that they don't understand the basis for their own power, and try to kill it.

Yeah, oil is irrelevant unless you count transport, plastics, the bulk of the agro-industrial chain. Eating is over-rated.

I'm not joking when I say mRNA technology is more important than "AI" and it's a tragedy we're throwing billions into one while our government is aggressively defunding the other.

Mark the words of the Marks! There is at present no realistic alternative to the offshore $ system, for all the same reasons i laid out in chs 6-7 of Subprime Nation in 2009.

Screenshotted excerpt from the linked article, reading as follows:

Boasberg scheduled a hearing for 5 PM and asked the government’s lawyer point-blank whether there were imminent removals planned under the proclamation. The Justice Department lawyer claimed he didn’t know, so at 5:22 PM, Boasberg adjourned the hearing until 6 PM to allow him to investigate. A removal flight took off at 5:25, followed by another at 5:45.

When the hearing resumed at 6 PM, the Justice Department lawyer told Boasberg he still had no flight details to share. Boasberg ordered the government not to carry out any removals under the proclamation for 14 days, and said that if planes had already taken off, the people needed to be returned to the United States.

Several hours later, the government transferred the migrants into El Salvador’s custody. Secretary of State Marco Rubio then retweeted a post from the president of El Salvador: a news headline about Boasberg’s order, accompanied by the text, “Oopsie…Too late 😂😂.”

The line that "the wealthy do not need to buy here" perfectly captures the conflation that is at the heart of capital - the idea that owning a claim against some production process is the same as making a contribution to it.

result: you're fucked. or you change MD/hospital (not always easy - do they take new patients?
An insane system: complicated, corrupt, expensive, underperforming(US life expectancy = Colombia or Peru), wasteful, generates rather than lowers insecurity. but insurers make big political donations! 6/6

...like a rational choice. until you lose your MD/hospital. Theoretically you can opt back into Medigap if that happens. but it requires medical underwriting so your premiums can be $1000s higher. MC regulator will not force Medigap insurers to take these clients at the original premium. 5/6

pay more premiums to cover the 20% (c. $1600 - $3000) but have free choice of MD & specialists
or MC Adv - generally no premiums but limited choice of MDs and requires preauthorization for expensive services. profit drive -> high denial rates/delay for approvals.
but if cash short, MC Adv looks 4/

4 days ago 0 0 1 0

... = MC = public health insurance for people aged 65+ (mostly). So why MC Adv? MC only covers 80% of total cost w/ annual premiums (yes, it's not free!) in 2026 of $2436 per person. How to cover the other 20% (which can be $$$ for cancer, surgery, etc): private insurance.
2 flavors: "Medigap" 3/6
