Trauma may shape us. It may inform who we are. But it is not ALL of who we are. We are not caricatures of pain. We are not our dysphoria. We are whole people, who love and laugh and bleed and cry and feel. And being trans is an incredibly beautiful thing to be.
Over the past few days, I've received some messages from people who think I'm being too positive about the trans experience. They think I should focus more on how much dysphoria sucks, or how much suffering there is and can be as a result of it.
Look, I get it. Dysphoria almost killed me. I GET IT.

The first person who replies feels that the critic's argument is a personal attack on their consumption practices. This person thinks, "Well I like superhero movies and do not consider myself a jarheaded nationalist, and this person is conflating me, because of what I consume, with other jarheaded nationalists." The problem with this line of thinking is that the person doing it has identified themselves with what they consume, and therefore any attack on media they enjoy becomes an attack on them personally. Luckily, there exists a simple remedy: don't identify with what you consume.
i would argue that this is the basically inescapable nature of "fandom culture." fandoms are effectively a kind of imagined communities in which the chief unifying shared identity is media consumption. which is why fandom can't help but become fiercely anti-critical

We need to stop accepting views expressed on Twitter as real opinions. The sooner everyone assumes that the median post on that website is done in bad faith and principally designed to chase clout, the sooner we stop letting these fake controversies take up all the oxygen in the room.

Wales Committee 5.11 The Board noted the minutes from the previous Wales Committee meeting, including the request that the draft Code of Practice for Services, Public Functions and Associations submitted to the government in September 2025 should be circulated for information to members of the Wales Committee. 5.12 The Deputy Chief Executive updated that after careful consideration, she recommended that the draft Code should not be shared beyond the Board, including the Wales Committee, before the government lays it before Parliament (as required by the Equality Act 2006) .
