It is crazy that I find myself agreeing (sometimes) with Thomas Massie, MTG, Rand Paul, and the Cato Institute.

In November, there will be a special election for what used to be Rubio’s seat. The current incumbent—Ashley Moody—was appointed by Gov. DeSantis. Her likely opponent will be Alexander Vindman. So there’s hope for a blue victory this year.
I’m a Floridian who has always voted against Scott. In past elections, Scott usually won by pluralities, not majorities. In 2024, Scott ran against a viable Democratic opponent. Yet Florida voters actually re-elected Scott by the biggest margin of victory he had ever gotten—about 56%.
For what it’s worth, I’m a boomer. I was born in the mid-50s, so I’m too young to remember the height of Cold War fears. But I do remember the Cuban Missile Crisis and Krushchev’s “We will bury you.” And I voted against Trump 3 times.
Except—we celebrate the Resurrection on Easter. Palm Sunday commemorates the day when Jesus entered Jerusalem, cheered on by crowds hailing him as a blessed one.
Pets only stay a while with us. But they are such a blessing to us.
It is a fascinating film. I’m very interested in the academic study of religion, especially mysticism. I also love music. So this film spoke to me via 2 channels. Technically, I suppose you’d call it a musical. But for me, it was more like opera—and a very dreamlike one.
An independent cinema in Tampa, Florida is playing it in 70mm—sadly, to all-but-empty houses! I saw it the other day, with only 3 other patrons. I’m still processing what I saw. It was different from what I expected—very much like an opera heard in a dream.
I just saw this fascinating film on Monday (3/2) in 70mm. Sadly, the film is bombing locally; the showing I attended had only 4 patrons. I’d love to own it on DVD. Likewise, it’s my understanding that Sony isn’t releasing the soundtrack album in physical media either.
The Republicans must be aware of all those MAGA followers who virtue-signal by carrying around pocket-sized printed copies. It’s also in the $60 Trump Bible.
Screenshot of what Google AI came up with when I searched for information on Elon Musk. Google AI thought that I was researching how to get rid of muskrat infestations.
Can AI make Freudian slips? The other day, I did a Google search on “west hollywood musk permits.” I was looking for information on how Musk’s new Tesla Diner got permission to erect its massive video screens. Google’s AI thought that I wanted to learn about getting rid of infestations of muskrats!
Hawley’s plan is to give $600 to taxpayers with incomes below $75,000. Apparently, Hawley thinks that people in that income bracket are all MAGA and that Biden voters are all wealthy elitists. I’m in that income bracket, and I’m not MAGA. Besides, $600 is nice but not exactly a windfall.
What a shame! My roots are in Oklahoma. I was born there and lived there until my father relocated to Florida when I was in middle school. I returned there twice in the 1990s when relatives of mine died; haven’t been back since. I really don’t remember Oklahoma being as bad as it seems to be now.
Yes—I get the “Temporary Error 15” message.
Reported.
According to the BBC, corn farmers are not happy about this. I might add that while it’s less powerful than it once was, Big Sugar remains a major industry in Florida.

Using letters in phone numbers. For example, my phone number when I was a kid began EL5, or “Elgin 5.” This was in the 1960s. Also, it was a big deal when area codes were introduced, because you no longer had to call an operator to place a ling-distance call.

. . .and on 7/11, the Board of Governors that oversees Florida’s higher education system debated this proposal. Board members had a lot of reservations, mostly related to the logistics if setting up the agency. But they voted unanimously to OK it. www.insidehighered.com/news/governm...
One issue that hasn’t gotten much attention nationwide is Florida Gov. DeSantis’ attempt to create a new higher education accrediting agency to supersede the supposedly “woke” SACS. The Florida Legislature has appropriated $4 million for this purpose, . . .

We had a lot of great warriors leading our military. Hegseth fired them.
OK, but in the meantime, DOGE has devastated thousands of lives in the US, has caused the deaths of countless people abroad, and has destroyed our nation’s standing in the world.
Trump probably thinks that Alvin and the Chipmunks’ “Witch Doctor” song is Liberia’s national anthem.
