This was an incredible experience for Dr. Frank Mitloehner, our Director at the UC Davis CLEAR Center, and our visual specialist who had the opportunity to capture this unique & sustainable farming practice. They saw firsthand how Gary and his no-till operation work for the land, not against it. 2/
Livestock are part of the solution, not the problem. That belief was reaffirmed when we traveled to Osco and sat down with Gary Asay, a pig farmer turned grain farmer. He didn’t see pig manure as waste. He saw it as a valuable resource, where nutrients are deposited back into the soil. 🌿 1/

Cassidy's hot take? More important than sharing "your story" is answering the questions that people have about their food. 🍽️
By helping bridge the knowledge gap on where our food comes from, conversations with ranchers like Cassidy can help strengthen trust and transparency. 3/
We had a great time recording this episode while we were in Nashville at CattleCon. It really highlights the people behind our food system and how they play a large role in communicating about agriculture. 2/
In this week's CLEAR Conversations episode, we're joined by cattle rancher, Cassidy Johnston! 🤠🎙️
As someone who didn't grow up in ag, didn't show cattle, or know what FFA was, she is now a first-gen ranch manager, strategist, and communicator with deep commitment to raising cattle, and her boys. 1/
If we're serious about sustainability, we have to look at the full picture, and rendering is a big part of making our food system more efficient and less wasteful. Read more about the unsung hero of agriculture in our newest explainer. 3/3

Rendering is what keeps a huge amount of waste out of landfills by turning animal leftovers into useful, everyday products. Things like biofuel, animal feed, fertilizer, and even soap. It's not flashy, but it matters... a lot! ♻️ 2/
Infographic showing how rendering turns animal leftovers into everyday products. Images include meat processing, oil being poured, pet food, and a fuel nozzle, alongside text explaining rendering as a recycling process.
With National Rendering Day coming up, let's talk about something most people don't think about, but really should. 1/

With the challenge of condensing her work on amino acids like glutamate to help improve the gut health in piglets, reduce diarrhea, and reduce antibiotic use, Jane did an outstanding job presenting the full scope of her research. 👏 4/

“It’s not just about doing science, but about being able to explain it in a simple and meaningful way so others can understand why it matters."
Proud of our students at the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences & impressed with how they communicate science into digestible nuggets. 3/
When asked about her experience, this is what Jane had to say:
"Public speaking has never been easy for me, especially in English, since it’s not my first language. I was honestly very nervous at first, but this experience showed me that I can do it, and that means a lot to me.“ 2/
A HUGE congratulations to Jane, one of our swine PhD students in Dr. Yanhong Liu's Lab, who was selected as a Top 10 Finalist for the 2026 GRAD SLAM! 🏆
These presentations are limited to 3 mins in length with judging focused on clarity, delivery & how well the speaker is able to engage audience. 1/
Pleasure to have been part of creating these educational videos focused on helping producers & employees better understand how sustainability applies to everyday work on dairy & beef operations. 🐄 🐂
Many thanks to DairyKind & Alltech for the wonderful collab!
