Very proud to publish this story.
Day 5,475 of...
Horrifying.
Utterly horrifying.
Wanna tell officials what you think of this? We tell you how.
We also include a letter by a clinic worker and community member who objects to this. We could have just quoted her. But we thought it was important to let her speak for herself.
Locals have been asking us, "Where can we get your zine!?"
Here's where! We're partnering with nearby organizations on print distribution. www.tlvoice.org/issue-2-tend...
Thank you SO MUCH for saying this. We are trying very, very hard to show up for the TL and the people who live and work here.
Sentiments like yours help keep us going.
(And sorry it took me a few days to wrote this message. Helluva week.)
TL Voice @tlvoice.bsky.social is the neighborhood media that the Tenderloin has deserved for a long time
sf and bay area friends who care about local independent journalism: check out the tenderloin voice! they are doing really cool and crucial work centered on a vibrant and neighborly part of the city that is much maligned and deserves more love
I have not taken this course, but hey, $1 to expand your mind with facts instead of ridiculous, sexist, make believe internet controversies about "games journalism" is a good investment!
Brave browser does wonders, I'm finding. In fact, I'd gotten used to it. Then I tried watching Amazon Prime without it... ack! This is how people live? I'm paying for prime but I still have to watch three sets of commercials per episode of Fallout? Horrible!
This is the kind of thing you encounter in the TL. It's organic, real, it's good. And little known outside the neighborhood.
Happy #LocalNewsDay! It’s a day to connect newsrooms and communities, and since we’re new here, we’re asking for your help getting to know more people. All day, we’ll be sharing how. First up: Forward our newsletter! Links to our latest below — plus a signup link if you need it. Thank you!
“The world needs to hear: Here, in San Francisco, in the Tenderloin, they were shakin’ shit up before Stonewall!”
— Community organizer Tyree Leslie on "The Compton's Cafeteria Riot" play.
More on why this show moves people:
And yes I screenshot'd this and sent it to them.
Treat yourself and read this lovely story by Cami Dominguez, who needs to get on Bluesky :) www.sfpublicpress.org/on-man-made-...
I miss shitty commercials read by real humans.
How dare they. To make me miss that.
And tonight is the latest showing of a VERY popular play about the Compton's Cafeteria Riot. tockify.com/tl.events/de...
It's a GORGEOUS day in SF.
Looking for something to do in the Tenderloin?
Well then check our community calendar. www.tlvoice.org/calendar/
You could wait till Monday to hear Danielle Brathwaite-Shirley, the brilliant creator of blacktransarchive.com, share how she has brought games and play into art galleries
Or you could listen right now AND support indie journalism doing the exciting work that a subscription model makes possible
Have you ever felt an orchestral performance? Been within arm’s length of the violinists, the timpani’s thunderous drumming?
I hadn’t, prior to this Tenderloin event. The sound vibrated through me. As the volume swelled, I discovered a knot in my throat. And the experience has stayed with me.
It just May be
