Organic looking scatterplot. Blob in the bottom left. Hedgehog looking.

Organic looking scatterplot. Sort of looks like Romanesco broccoli.

Organic looking scatterplot. Sort of looks like Romanesco broccoli.

Scatterplot of 4 million computer science authors, laid out according to co-authorship connections. Large blob in the bottom left are all single authors; removing them lets the plot breathe more somehow.

The source of the data is the @dblp.org bibliography.

We know who the culprit is, and honestly it is unbelievable that we cannot have good things because scarce (and might I add, publicly funded) resources are stolen by reckless gold rushers. Rate-limit or link-maze them all to hell, honestly. #compsci #compsky #academicchatter

Like many other sites, we have seen an unnatural increase in traffic (for us, by a factor of about 25) since around September 2024. It might be ill-guided AI bots or malicious DDoS; it's hard to tell. And, frankly, in the end: What's the difference? 2/2 ~MRA

There is a massive flood of website requests coming to #dblp from all directions. We are usually able to cope most days, but not so much the past four days. We are sorry, and we are actively working on it. 1/2
