Historians have a responsibility to fact check each other. We call it peer review which sounds fancier but that's what it is.
Agreeing to peer review something you lack the knowledge or courage to correct or reject does real harm to Indigenous communities, Canada, and the United States.

Folks concerned about misinformation in David Frum's recent article in @theatlantic Global can respond with a letter to the editor or propose a more accurate piece to the Atlantic global editor. More is better.
In 1931 in Kiel, Germany, Rachel Posner, the wife of a rabbi, took this picture.
On the back of the photograph she wrote:
“‘Death to Judah,’ so the flag says.
‘Judah lives forever,’ so the light answers.”
The light will continue to answer the darkness. Happy Hanukkah.
Photo of an Oct. 1 Time Magazine article that attributed a quote to US Ambassador Pete Hoekstra, when it was actually made up for a Beaverton article.
When your ambassador is SO deranged that Time Magazine says, "Yeah, that quote sounds real".

Seattle No Kings from the monorail
My mom texted me with a picture of her at one of the No Kings protests. Her first protest ever. The normies have awakened.
DC J6: 1.500 arrests
DC No Kings: zero
Tell me again which side is violent?
Greta Thunberg annoys the right because she's a reminder that it's possible to stay true to your moral principles even when it's inconvenient, and they fucking hate that
She was then, as she is now, on the front line of the final defence of the American Republic.
Maybe it's time to have some humility and fucking fall in behind her?

It’s so annoying that we all have to just continually point out how rules around/between decorum and violation are applied asymmetrically to vulnerable groups versus the people who are always hassling them, and it’s extra insulting that the people in charge are trying to lol it away.
Happening now: Hundreds of rabbis and Jewish community members gather in Brooklyn for a mass public memorial service on Yom Kippur, demanding a permanent ceasefire in Gaza and for the U.S. to stop arming Israel.
Matthew 15:29-31: And great crowds came to him, bringing with them the lame, the blind, the crippled, the mute, and many others, and they put them at his feet, and he healed them after verifying their citizenship status.
Noisy, hungry frogs sadden farmer's life. They scare his cattle and they also eat his flannel shirt.
Become ungovernable
I really need all of us to abandon any impostor syndrome. It’s time.
you don't get to only fight the fights you know you'll win
"We're losing because there are always moments when we lose" is a lesson that Ta-Nahisi Coates understands intuitively, and that Ezra Klein has never had to, and that difference speaks volumes about American history.
It is really funny that Jimmy Kimmel Live showed more moral fortitude and adherence to a system of values than Columbia University
In reporting this piece on the new trial for a Huntington's treatment, I was struck by one thing in particular:
The joy.
One of my sources wept for joy. He has spent his entire career studying this disease, he said it was the happiest day. www.sciencenews.org/article/hunt...
It took just three days to get Sinclair to back down, and what it got in exchange for agreeing to put Kimmel back on the air was...nothing. This is not what happens every time you stand up to a bully, but if you don't fight back, you'll never know if you would have won.
the post office is a public service. it doesn’t need to make money. public transit doesn’t need to make money. the library doesn’t need to make money. some things exist for the public good and we desperately need lawmakers to stop thinking about them in terms of capitalism. these are not businesses.
