I don't think he's apologizing for what he did, he just now realizes that he did it for the wrong person. He would willingly make the same "mistakes" for the next person he thinks would implement his particular flavor of fascism.

That's what primaries are for.
There are a lot of good Democrats running on anti-oligarch platforms who don't take corporate campaign contributions. If you don't have options in your state, then consider running yourself.
That was back in the transition period from regular order to "do what he says"
I'm pretty sure that all the people who used to do stuff like that have been fired by now.
It doesn't make me any more comfortable to know that military leaders chose to run their own operation rather than refuse to carry out orders. That sounds a bit like a military coup.
