Snippet about a game called ミッドランド 幻の王国 by 未来ソフト.
There is either an unreleased PS1 game from ADK's Mirai Soft brand called "Midland" or the game I am looking at became Treasure Gear a year later?? #ps1

Ad for 1996 postcard game by Youentai which also had some sort of book series that came out the same year it seems "Welcome to Sister Joan こうもり城へようこそ" is the title
The 96 "Net Game" by Youentai was "Welcome to the Bat Castle", there is a rabbit hole behind these games...this blog seems to do a decent job introducing them, not sure if you would call them lost media or what www.dampfkraft.com/games/japane...
Yeah we are almost lucky there is a physical issue with glasses they haven't solved (battery life) but once they can get 12 hours and lightweight models out we might be cooked...there is a reason Zuck has been obsessed with it and it is because keeping ads in front of eyeballs is the end game...
The issue is that the next evolution of this path is "put on your VR glasses and ignore the real world with our Slop Factory Content tailored to your tastes and oh by the way we will also show you ads" SF / Black Mirror nightmare coming a reality, imagination melting away
Feels like the future is kind of cooked when kids waiting in lines are playing random slop mobile games like addicted zombies glued to the screen and even inside a theater attraction some teens were scrolling video reels while not paying attention. Super distressing to see first hand
A zoom in shot of the two seemingly having fun
Nice smile and stare from two characters next to a PS1 kiosk
"There was a cosplay competition at the expo, but we think the image girls from Takara booth were the stars of the show" (Battle Arena Toshinden)
You had me at good soundtrack
So you can thank Human Creative School to some degree for the Earth Defense Series and also games like Robot Alchemic Drive. They worked at Human from 96 to 99 then created Sandlot. See message from the Angel Dive programmer here www.d3p.co.jp/edf_20th/mes...
Article about four of the most impressive projects from students in 1996
Zoom in on the screenshot
"Angel Dive" on X68000 was actually made by two students doing the 2-year long full course at Human's game dev school, the comment doc from them lamenting about how busy they were is on TCRF, but the story doesn't end there. They ended up founding Sandlot! en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sandlot...
The Japanese singer You surrounded by PS1 games, living the dream
Powerful photography
We're not done with 2026 yet.
I had to look up what the Win95 Japanese cooking game "Panicook" was to see if it was some sort of proto version of Cook Serve Delicious (not exactly, but seems great in other ways) www.youtube.com/watch?v=32Uu...
From a TV segment showing proper spelling
Hiromi being interviewed but does not seem to have comments picked up in the article text...
Hiromi on a staircase with the other Square members
Was kind of shocked to see that this article has Square pixel artist legend Hiromi Nakada's name backwards (it looks like Hiromi Tanaka instead). here is example of correct spelling from a TV show segment, it is an interesting article although annoying that they do not have comments from her #square
Just found there is some sort of wiki site for legendary women in Japan game industry scrapbox.io/jwg/

Some serious 1993 arcade gaming going on here
Takeuchi-san the manager of the TV game corner in front of sales desk and surrounded by games and a keyboard piano in front (must have been next to the music equipment section). You can barely see Mega Drive games on the right and in his profile picture he is standing in front of them.

Jiggeh's Waterworld poster
Congrats to @jiggeh.bsky.social for completing his big project of streaming every version of the original Prince of Persia - check him out if you need some pixel art/illustration art work done as well, his Kevin Costner's Waterworld poster was amazing

Marukatsu Mega Drive on sale August 5 1992 for 620 yen, Mega Drive soft ranking best 50 is the top listed article followed by a strategy guide for Dark Wizard
Ad for the first issue of Marukatsu Mega Drive features pretty amazing art from Nobuteru Yuuki (character artist of Escaflowne and many other things...) #megadrive
I went through Famitsu 1991 to 1993 so long ago (4 or 5 years?) I missed tons of stuff I want to catalog and need to do it again...thankfully I have loved game magazines since I was a little kid. I was only saving off things I knew were good off the top of my head...now I know so much more
The only high res picture I could find of it
I could swear this Premium Boss from a plastic bottle tastes better than from a can, maybe just mind tricks...
The winner was announced later, but it is not documented well if the cart is actually gold and actually has the special names changed. famikonchuuken.blog.jp/archives/151...

How to enter the contest with some art from the game
There was a contest where you could win a gold cart of Super Famicom "Kouryuu Densetsu Villgust" and the special thing about the cart is that you had to be entering the contest as a romantic couple...with a love scene INSIDE the game getting personalized to your names.
Iconic Gandalf with a sword artwork in black and white
I always loved this art, it even looks cool in black and white pixel art sized. Painted by en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tom_Jung

I have frustration that Bluesky is not MORE business-like if anything, I do not want to lose all the game history related posts I have been posting here. Discord and Bluesky should merge and transform into something new blending social and communities is still my hot take.
People on Bluesky lashing out at Bluesky instead of bigger problem billionaires is quite similar to the amount of hate that dems throw at dems...stay focused folks, this is too much like the scene in Andor S2 where the rebels are fighting with each other LOL.
Last of this round of Sega Saturn soundtracks, Victory Goal original 1995 JPN only version, main composer of course is Jun Senoue. #sega youtu.be/vQe4Jcn1lA4
Dropping some hot ones before the weekend, first up...Gotha OST / Sega Saturn, was a bit out of control when I just tested it with my "bass xxl" type earbuds, sounded better from my phone and laptop #sega youtu.be/mDpUwCm812M
