let's be clear about what's happening: donald trump and benjamin netanyahu, whose countries have been committing genocide in gaza since 2023, unilaterally started a war with iran, and are now threatening genocide there.
Iranian news channels are reporting that U.S.-Israeli strikes just destroyed a synagogue in central Tehran, on the evening before the last day of Passover.
So much for protecting Jews.
Iran has the second largest Jewish population in West Asia.

BREAKING: Israel's Knesset has passed a law to execute Palestinian detainees.
Death by hanging. Mandatory sentencing. No pardon. 90 days to carry out.
It applies through military courts with a 96% conviction rate. It does not apply to Israelis.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Mass protest planned against weapons conference to oppose wars for profit SEATTLE, WA Seattle Convention Center Arches on Pike March 18 at 12pm Hundreds of companies that make up the military supply chain will be gathering at the Seattle Convention Center March 18-19 for the Aerospace and Defense Supplier Summit (DSS). Concerned community organizations will be hosting a mass protest outside the convention center to oppose war and genocide profiteering and demand that the governor cancel and ban the conference from returning to Seattle and instead invest in jobs that meet peoples’ needs. As the US continues its brutal war of aggression against Iran, it has already killed hundreds of civilians and spent over $11 billion within the first week of combat. The people are outraged that government spending continues to serve the needs of major weapons companies, rather than of the people. They will also call attention to the connections between these weapons companies and the ICE attacks on migrant communities. Last time DSS was in Seattle in 2024, our mass protest forced their Boeing Conference Day onto zoom. This year, Boeing has backed out of a prominent sponsorship, though many of the companies present are within the Boeing supply chain.
Tomorrow, Seattle community groups will hold an anti-war protest outside the Pacific Northwest’s largest defense and aerospace industry summit. The companies are accused of profiting off of the U.S.-Israeli war on Iran and lobbying for the “forever wars” stance of the bipartisan foreign policy elite
Israeli soldiers just murdered a Palestinian family in cold blood as they were going shopping for Eid in the occupied West Bank. Despicable behavior.
Imagine the pain the two surviving boys will have to live with for the rest of their lives 💔

59 Palestinian journalists recount stories of abuse, violence, torture, rape and starvation committed by Israeli jailors, according to a new report by the Committee to Protect Journalists. This is systemic.
Protect Palestinian journalists. Prosecute the criminals.

Screenshot "I was at the ICE Tukwila office today and saw three full double decker truck loads of unmarked SUVs being unloaded and parked inside of the ICE facility. that's around 24 vehicles. One can safely assume that more vehicles = more agents = more enforcement coming our way."
I received a report today from a community member who spotted approximately 24 new unmarked SUVs. outside the ICE facility in Tukwila, WA, just south of Seattle.
It’s hard to say for certain what this means, but it could indicate a greater deployment of personnel in the region in the near future.
If a 27 year old woman was randomly killed on the streets of Capitol Hill by *anything* other than a motor vehicle it would be all over the front pages this morning. Cars are the thing that make me fear the most for my safety in this city and yet this is how the local paper of record responds.

The blockade on Cuba is unconscionable.
A supposedly blue county in Washington State is criminalizing immigrants who may be working in precarious or even coercive informal economy jobs. This is happening amid ICE’s violent crackdown on immigrants. Instead of going after those who exploit, the county finds it easier to attack the victims.
A little meditation on the current moment, and what it means for us and our movements.
Stay tuned for more.

Shout out to the great work @citycastseattle.bsky.social has been doing recently in the local news space. They're hosting a membership drive that ends TODAY, and if you sign up, you get this really cool map of Seattle.
(Yes, the map swayed my personal decision to sign up. Can't resist a good map!)
Pretty much the most important thing happening in the world right now.

In honor of Valentine’s Day, @janehu.bsky.social and I talked to “Love in a Fucked Up World” author @deanspade.bsky.social about why dating in Seattle seems to suck so much right now and how we can make conflict in our friendships and social movements a little less destructive and more generative:
It appears SPD deliberately failed to disclose its CCTV camera, located on the roof of a building near the East Precinct, as was required by Seattle’s surveillance ordinance.
This is the definitive point by Chris Hedges, re: Noam Chomsky and Epstein. Chomsky's entire value as a public intellectual is to know what people like Epstein are up to and why. Him feigning ignorance is absurd, and if it were true it would undermine the rest of his career.
A screenshot of a post from the account Acyn featuring a video of Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC). The text of the post quotes AOC speaking about the humanitarian crisis in Cuba, drawing parallels to Gaza. She describes a "new era of depravity" where innocent civilians are starved or deprived because their political regimes are found "objectionable." She emphasizes the need to defend human rights, mentioning the risk of hospitals running out of fuel and children being put in harm's way. The video thumbnail shows AOC walking through a hallway while being interviewed by a reporter holding a microphone. Would you like me to help you draft more QRTs based on these specific images or provide a deeper summary of the AOC video?
The United States is purposefully blockading Cuba from accessing fuel that powers everything from grocery stores to hospitals. People will die. Children will die. What's being done to the people of Cuba is monstrous.
The people in power were ok with it in Gaza and now they're doing it to Cuba.
Super Bowl viewers Sunday speculated that 5-year-old Liam Conejo Ramos appeared in the halftime show. In fact, he has been in hiding with his family.
“He can’t sleep well at night. He wakes up three or four times a night screaming, ‘Daddy, Daddy,’” Liam's father Adrian Conejo Arias, said.
