also in retrospect some of the problems i did have with season one initially are WAY more pressing and glaring with season 2.
i also think it was important for me to remember how much i project my own politics and ideals onto things. we all see things the way we want to see them. sometimes it isn't quite how they are. sorry that was an essay and probably did not make much sense haha
also definitely had a whole writers room involved through the whole process, which this season did not. but yes now i look at season one and its ideas that one would expect to be challenged and i'm like oh. this is weird now knowing they actually just kind of gets brushed aside or even validated
yes yes season one is super interesting to me in retrospect. pacing for sure helped it, and the fact that they didn't seem to have the expectation to expand it into a franchise, but you're so right. so much of the groundwork there hinged on the idea that these ideas would be further explored.
