Four days in #Dunedin and it was great. (Did not attend the Hyde Street party I might add.)

I drive a hybrid as a work vehicle and I own a hybrid as a personal car. I am wondering if I should now look at electric for my own vehicle.
Heading home from the Mackenzie A&P Show. Bad car accident outside Geraldine, traffic diverted.

Sound the 'New Zealand mentioned in international social media' klaxon.
I realise these are newsworthy stories. That doesn't stop the constant list of companies going under any less depressing.

Fired Up Stilettos Expects Better From Would-be Allies ✒️
When party strategy gets in the way of progress, what options are there for recourse?
We have the privilege to platform this article from Fired Up Stilettos detailing some worrying interactions with the Green Party.
Nothing like up north of course but pretty heavy rain in #Chch at present.

I was going to start using the buses more often due to, you know, end-of-the-world-and-petrol-prices etc, but do you think I can now find my MetroCard? Can I fuck.
A black 2000s era Sony Walkman.
Found this in a drawer. Still works. Annoyingly the little cap for the end is gone but still. Love some 2000s tech. #Sony #Walkman
Some might be deeply wrong - that is a fantastic meal.
Now that was some serious fucking thunder in #Chch. Actual house shaking.

6/ I think about both earthquakes and the many aftershocks all the time. I'm not sure that is healthy but I can't help it. This time of year is always weird. This year I think even more. Thanks to @secondzeit.bsky.social for his writing 16 years ago and today.
5/ I remember his health declining and him getting thinner and thinner but he kept working. And then one day he wasn't there any more. I am glad he never saw the destruction of 4 September and then 22 February.
On desolation Row a story in The Press about Sydenham post-4 September 2010 earthquake.
On desolation Row a story in The Press about Sydenham post-4 September 2010 earthquake.
4/ What I found most moving was this story by @secondzeit.bsky.social about the damage done to Sydenham. Again with hindsight, this is quite haunting and sad. So many ghosts. The barber shop that was closed, because Tony had passed away, hit hard. I used to go to Tony for haircuts.
Story from The Press which says What lies beneath and talks about the science behind the 4 September 2010 earthquake and if there might be another quake

3/ The story by John McCrone about the science and if there might be another quake has all sorts of dreadful resonance now.
Front page of The Press from September 2010 saying A fortnight to remember and showing a destroyed building
Front page from The Press September with scientists in a cracked paddock and a big headline When Plates Collide. Another earthquake related story post 4 September 2010 quake.
2/ And I found amongst the many papers some articles from The Press from 2010 post- September earthquake. There were some suitably dramatic front pages.
1/ @secondzeit.bsky.social has a fantastic and poignant story in today's Press about the 15th anniversary of 22 February earthquake. By chance I have over the past few months been sorting through my late father's things - saving the important or important-to-me.
Well that photo of the former Prince will become the next internet meme. Too good to be true.
