The idea that opposing and rolling back trans rights is good for cis women and girls is ludicrous on every level and absolutely enraging when applied in legislation and policy that obviously limits and rolls backs rights for ALL women and girls

Thought du jour, applicable to many situations right now: maybe people who require constant appeasement aren’t worth tossing your stated values and jumping through flaming hoops while navigating constantly changing goal posts. 🤔
The whole point of the story is that despite being a group of people who aren't especially adventurous and mostly love good food, drink, and leaf and quiet lives at home, that they have a hidden strength and are especially resilient at resisting the evil of the ring!
Me too! It helped fill up things that were running a bit low.
With alt text. This is AMAZING!
Solidarity is everything.
Is politics weighing on you? Does it ever make you feel alone, like "everyone" is on board with awful things and "no one" cares (or close)?
Then you should go to a No Kings protest. That feeling isn't uncommon, but it's a trick. Go be around some of the many people who agree with you. You'll see.
Local No Kings rally was lovely, chill in spirit and temperature, loads of signs, cute dogs and frogs, doughnuts from the best doughnut shop ever. It was great to see how many of us there are. Highly recommend if you’re on the fence about whether to attend yours.
When I'm not building websites one of my favourite things I do is designing The Dartmoor Collective books and zines. I'm *really* proud of 'Flow'. If you love art / photography / landscapes / poetry and want to support Dartmoor artists, please grab a copy from dartmoorcollective.org/product/flow...
Cover of the Dartmoor Collective Flow zine - it's an abstract painting inspired by Dartmoor by artist Louise Bougourd- it resembles a bank of dark grey cloud with gold highlights flowing over the moor with a brighter patch of blue sky breaking through.
Colour photo by Jaiyana Chelikha- a female figure wearing a black headscarf stands alone on an area of open moorland - some sheep are visible behind, grazing through yellowish winter moorgrass and dead bracken. The colours of her clothing match that of the surrounding scene. Grey sky above.
A black and white image by Iain Murray of a still, dark pool in a high Dartmoor river - a bank of gravel is highlighted by the weak sun. The landscape beyond is hazy in mist. Some words by Kirsteen McNish appear on the page to the left of the image: Daylight, a Skylark spirals its song from gorse to cloud - a tiny vortex rising like smoke At night, under a full moon, the wind sears into skin, illuminating the flux Swallowed, swaled, a cacophony shaken from an ancient dream
A close up black and white photo by Simon Blackbourn of a piece of grained and weathered driftwood in a Dartmoor river.
We're delighted to announce the publication of our new zine, Flow.
It's by far our best and biggest publication yet, featuring 60 pages of work from 35 Dartmoor visual artists exploring the theme of flow across a diversity of styles and mediums, interweaved with the words of writer, Kirsteen McNish.
I hope you find it more fun again soon!
For me (my experience only!) I feel like this every time I’ve been working in something else then come back to it. Not just React but it’s more pronounced because it changes more often.
Like I hate how x does iterable things every single time I switch from y, no matter what x and y may be! 🫠😁
I don’t have anything new to say about what to do in these times but I can recommend books:
Automatic Noodle by @annaleen.bsky.social is perfect cozy sci fi 🤖 and The Payback by @kashana.bsky.social is a great heist (?), the Debt Police are genius and not so far fetched?
There may have been an element of me changing things and causing issues but yeah, I don’t get why the db isn’t actually wiped after tests. And seriously, thank you! Easy enough fix once I knew 😊
This makes me laugh every time

My other small, personal good news of the day with caveats attached is that hard cooked eggs which were boiled until dry and exploded are still edible.
