When you mention that you take even basic precautions people look at you like you're wearing a tinfoil hat, and you'll never see someone's eyes glaze over faster than if you suggest a few basic precautions they could take. Society is doomed.

This reminds me of that French carrier in March whose movements were betrayed by a dude's Strava as he ran laps on the flight deck.
There's a character in Galápagos, the 1985 novel by Kurt Vonnegut, who has created a computer called the Mandarax that can understand natural language, translate languages, and answer questions on many topics -- it's basically an LLM. His wife does ikebana (Japanese flower arrangements) and she […]
You gotta go with the bones. It's clearly the right choice. I might as well have said, why is Robert Barathian sitting on that throne of swords? Shouldn't he be using swords for weapons?
Timeline serendipity!
I'm a 1990s Trekker, back when nitpicking was all the rage, so I must ask: Shouldn't the moopy drink the bones and leave everything else?
This video came out today and I thought of you. Lots of great recommendations for alternatives to proprietary software, mostly non-US.
An interesting take I once heard on the received wisdom that "generations get more conservative as they age" is that left-leaning people come from more vulnerable groups so they tend to die younger. (In the case of Boomers and Gen X, we lost a lot of the good ones to the AIDS epidemic.)
The whole season was some of the worst Star Trek ever made, but Picard and Beverly trying to murder Vadic was the straw for me. The last person in the galaxy who would do something evil for expediency is Picard, and if he tried Beverly would stop him. Total disrespect for TNG and its characters.
Forget the cat... Elnor never got to meet Worf! They both love swords, they're both warriors, they're both totally honorable, and Worf is racist against Romulans. How was *that* not a story in S3?
100% agree. Picard S3 is garbage. It definitively lost me when Picard and Beverly decided to murder Vadic. The last person in the galaxy who would do something evil for expediency is Picard, and if he tried Beverly is the one who would stop him. I would have signed to "Don't Make Legacy" petition.
Spoken like someone who wants his atoms scattered across half the Alpha Quadrant.
I love the acronym TLA, which stands for Three Letter Acronym.
It's pretty cool that the Bajorans were probably using this design long before the wormhole was discovered. "It's not linear."
It's part of the counselor's job to run the captain's social media presence.
It sort of looks like the mouth of the wormhole....
"Copilot is my Jesus."
Hell yeah. This is my favorite Marvel show, it's a crime they didn't make more of it.
Zefram Cochrane: breaking the fourth wall like he thinks he's Deadpool.
Most US theater kids, at least in my age group, have either been in a high school production of Our Town or at least had to perform a scene from it in acting class. It's such a staple of youth theater that it's basically a cliché. Which is unfortunate since I think it has more to say to adults.
As a Millennial I'm delighted to see that our plan to sabotage the younger generation so we're the only ones with marketable job skills is proceeding on schedule.
My two cents: If you don't start with the operating system (computer and phone), you will get pulled straight back into big tech. It's like gravity. Get rid of their operating systems.
It's a gift.
I don't support burning books, even to kill pah-wraiths.
That's not far from the truth, actually.
I like his books but not someone who's opinion about Star Trek I care about.
The only thing that redeems the remastered effects is when the Gorn blinks.
I prefer the original effects. I always watch TOS that way. To me, model ships nearly always look better than CGI.
This is great news. Since Magic Maps enshittified, maps have been a pain point on eOS. Organic Maps has been filling the gap pretty well but it doesn't always get the job done.
