Okay, I'll say it: Tonight has been an absolute DRUBBING for Texas book banners. Texas voters stood up and said clearly that they're sick of trustees demonizing teachers. They rejected the absurd policing of libraries & books that has plagued our state for years.

I had the literal best time at #TRLSummit2025 today! I felt affirmed in things that I'm doing, challenged in my thinking, pushed to continue to grow, and rejuvenated by my teammates and the ridiculously brilliant and inspiring panelists. This is urgent work, so let's go!

Want a good series that isn’t written by a transphobe?

Try Percy Jackson by Rick Riordan

The Supernatural Investigations series by B.B Alston

Shadowshaper & the sequels by Daniel José Older

They’re all fabulous

I heard this too. It's just still too much for me to hope for any sort of real action or vocal pushback.

Madison Square Garden’s surveillance system banned this fan over his T-shirt design MSG uses tools like facial recognition on attendees.

Madison Square Garden banned a fan for life over a t-shirt he made criticizing Knicks owner James Dolan — even though he didn't wear the shirt to the venue. MSG won't say how they identified the fan, who suspects facial recognition played a part.

Directing REVENGE and THE SUBSTANCE as your first two films is probably the coolest thing any Director has ever done.

So much of this is illegal. We can fight back. Let’s go educators, parents and decent humans. We have been fighting and we will keep fighting.

"Not Exactly Consequential": NYT Dismisses Trump's War on Trans Americans After years of trans panic coverage, the paper now claims attacks on trans rights barely matter.

Either transgender Americans are important enough to warrant year after year of breathless coverage questioning their healthcare and existence, or they're so insignificant that destroying their rights is the "least consequential" action of a presidency. www.readtpa.com/p/not-exactl...

I think a massive opportunity for children with additional needs would be to scrap the Friday spelling test. I cannot emphasise the amount of anticipatory anxiety and stress this can cause our children who (in a lot of cases) don’t benefit from it. Often they have memory difficulties. #EdChatIE

This this this. I teach creative writing, which is *why* I’ve been talking about the news w/ my students. This is what we talk about when talk about cliche, the way it can collapse & erase meaning. Don’t just accept the words you’re given. Find the words you need.

I wrote about my pet peeve: the lack of focus on dosage in Science of Reading conversations.

How much time should be spent on the different aspects of instruction? How much practice is ideal? What’s actually supported by research? When do diminishing returns kick in?

I'll go further. If you don't care about the Oscars, that's totally fine. But if you care about movies and moviemaking, you shouldn't insist on their meaninglessness. They have had many meanings through the decades, and studying them is a fascinating door into the history of an art and a business.
