At last an AI tool I can get behind

“Upload an architectural render. Get back what it'll actually look like on a random Tuesday in November.”

To counter my tendency to factor my code in a million different functions, I have configured my editor to gradually reduce the font of each function I create, until they become so hard to read I have to give up. I call that:

Was literally in conversation recently with someone referencing major national Events of 2020-21 and I’m basically nodding like I remember any of that (I don’t, since I was just in my house with a baby awake half the night the entire time 🫠)

Loving this. "Antirender" engine converts architects presentation drawings into the likely reality of the designs :)

Not Django but also something with a translations file. I don't know. We're trying out a Github Action that runs the script to update the translations and commit the results on push to main.

"At minimum, ranking algorithms with this much economic consequence should be auditable. We audit financial markets. We should audit attention markets too."

How Google Maps quietly allocates survival across London’s restaurants - and how I built a dashboard to see through it I wanted a dinner recommendation and got a research agenda instead. Using 13000+ restaurants, I rebuild its ratings with machine learning and map how algorithmic visibility actually distributes power.

I wanted dinner recommendations so I scraped 13,000+ London restaurants and accidentally discovered Google Maps is running a shadow economy. Anyway here's a dashboard and a political economy thesis: open.substack.com/pub/laurenle...

The :has() CSS selector saved me from having to set up an alternate layout, and for that I am eternally grateful

Y Oslo - How to draw an orange, Mike Monteiro YouTube video by Y Oslo

Earlier this week I flew to Oslo and gave a talk at Y-Oslo. It’s a talk about the human spirit, believing in yourself, how AI is bullshit, and how capitalism robs us of our confidence. Pour yourself a cup of coffee or tea or whatever makes you happy and enjoy: www.youtube.com/watch?v=zH2d...

"why isn't this web map I'm building showing up"
(a) forgot to load the map library CSS
(b) forgot to set a height on the map HTML element
(c) it's never any more complicated reason it's probably just (a) and/or (b) 🙃

I still hate moving, but I'm hopeful this (temporary) move will be worth the hassle! 🛤️

My kid's been excitedly telling everyone we'll be able to see the Red Sox stadium from our window! Let me clear the record that this is not true. 😂

Be back soon!
