Fifteen minutes before the President announced he was pausing strikes on Iran, somebody moved $500 million in oil futures. Somebody knew. Somebody told them. Or somebody is them.

Hungarian taxpayers paid American “post-liberal” Rod Dreher $105,000 last year to produce propaganda for Orban’s regime. www.jaccusepaper.co.uk/p/the-strang...
There are unlimited genuine problems with higher education that all should be fixed, many of which Zimmerman mentions in article. But the main reason MAGA hate higher education is because of the good things it succeeds at doing, like promoting critical thinking and making citizens of all races smart

Lina was giving us protections we didn't know we needed!
everyone with real American manliness and a basic knowledge of military history knows that serious war efforts have never been derailed by such trifling matters as "communicable diseases"
Prince passed away 10 years ago today.
RIP, your music lives on.
Now that the Supreme Court has ordered the Trump administration to refund companies what they paid in tariffs, yet there are still tariffs in place, what's the plan? Consumers continue to fork money over to corporations who will later get another refund?
"BP’s first completely new oilfield in the Gulf since the company’s Deepwater Horizon disaster 16 years ago.
It will be deeper than Deepwater Horizon, and in riskier waters... drilling 6 miles below the sea floor, deeper than the height of Mt. Everest"

these are immensely self absorbed men who pine for nazi germany and apartheid south africa — stagnant, backwards regimes btw — because they imagine themselves the masters of the universe.
A clip from The New York Times reads: "But only the entities that officially paid the tariffs are eligible to recover that money. That means that the fuller universe of people affected by Mr. Trump’s policies — including millions of Americans who paid higher prices for the products they bought — are not able to apply for direct relief. The extent to which consumers realize any gain hinges on whether businesses share the proceeds, something that few have publicly committed to do. Some have started to band together in class-action lawsuits in the hopes of receiving a payout."
The average American family paid $1,700 in tariffs last year, according to the bipartisan Congressional Joint Economic Committee. Few will ever see any of that money back. The refunds will go to companies, if doled out at all. What a joke.
A US army sergeant with 27 years of military service – including deployment to Afghanistan – has said that federal immigration agents recently arrested his wife during an appointment at an El Paso, Texas, immigration office.
Beginning to think that the Trump presidential library, like TrumpCoin, or in an earlier era, his hotels, is just a useful front for processing bribes to the President.
Emails released on Monday by California’s attorney general show Amazon allegedly colluding with other companies to raise the prices of pet treats, khaki pants, eyedrops and other products sold online
"“Yeah, we’re never seeing that money,” Cox said. “It’s messed up—and we won’t just be paying for it once,” he added, noting that corporations have now realized that many consumers will pay higher prices."

The Texas GOP is taking it back to the 2010s, going full hysteria mode over the imposition of Sharia law
As @joshkovensky.bsky.social reported, the party is trying to leverage Islamophobia to boost their midterms chances

BREAKING: New data shows ZERO oil tankers passed through the Strait of Hormuz today, signaling what appears to be a complete shutdown of the Strait for the first time in history.
The Strait normally carries about 20% of the world’s oil supply.
The chief Justice of the Supreme Court is a political hack. We knew this in 2005 when he was nominated and confirmed. The shadow docket shows how.

“Where justice is denied, where poverty is enforced, where ignorance prevails, and where any one class is made to feel that society is an organized conspiracy to oppress, rob and degrade them, neither persons nor property will be safe.”
– Frederick Douglass
Screenshotted excerpt from linked article reading as follows: "In public, Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr. has cultivated a reputation for care and caution. The papers reveal a different side of him. At a critical moment for the country and the court, the papers show, he acted as a bulldozer in pushing to stop Mr. Obama’s plan to address the global climate crisis. When colleagues warned the chief justice that he was proposing an unprecedented move, he was dismissive. “I recognize that the posture of this stay request is not typical,” he wrote. But he argued that the Obama plan, which aimed to regulate coal-fired plants, was “the most expensive regulation ever imposed on the power sector,” and too big, costly and consequential for the court not to act immediately."

Drivers blame peds. Peds blame drivers. Everyone hates cyclists. In reality, we should all hate politicians for not fixing the infrastructure.
Orbán rode to power on resentment over the economic stagnation that developed under center-left governments. But he leaves office with Hungarians facing falling wages and higher inflation than similar countries are experiencing. Orbán’s sectarianism and intolerance have sparked neither a religious revival nor a fertility bump; Hungary’s population is shrinking and has become more irreligious, even as Orbán has demonized LGBTQ people, “Muslim invaders,” and Jews. Orbánism, in short, did not make Hungarians more rich, Christian, or free—unless you happened to be one of Orbán’s buddies, in which case you may have gotten rich. As most Hungarians felt their economic circumstances worsen, Orbán provided them with relatively powerless targets to hate.
Orban made grand appeals to “Christianity” and “Western Civilization,” but his “illiberal democracy” was just a scam, a way to make him and his buddies rich while subjecting Hungarians to stagnation and robbing them of their freedom. Sound familiar? (Gift link) www.theatlantic.com/ideas/2026/0...

Trumpist Law Professors: John Eastman advocates for you being disenfranchised if you voted for the wrong party and shot by the army if you protest it. If you disagree, you’re INTOLERANT
If this actually happens, it may rank as the single most corrupt act in the history of American politics. I cannot believe this is even under discussion.
