Dead on

Had a lot of learning to do didn’t I? Glad I could win you over a bit over the years…and I appreciate you giving me more chances.
LASTLY! I do have lots of “mess up” Flyover scarves and if you’d like one I have two offers for you:
-stop by my house and do a porch pick up for free
-Venmo me $10 and I’ll ship it
For either option, please DM me.
Thanks all. ❤️⚜️❤️
As you know by now, @MattBakerSTL is the driving force, and all around GOAT in this community to me. You won’t notice much change other than my absence. It’s maybe the most vexing moment in all of CITY’s short existence and we’ll need him and the guys to help us sort it all out.
It’s not goodbye. I know I’ll be filling in, and I hope to do some Open Cup coverage on the side. No big deal but I just didn’t want our wonderful, faithful listeners to wonder what was going on.
Thought I’d make a small announcement as we wrapped up the final official show of the season last night that I’ll be stepping away from weekly shows at @FlyoverFooty. It’s purely a family decision! I have three boys and their time needs grow yearly.
Sure do. But I’m missing the next game. I’ll announce next event I go to.
That said, I can’t imagine taking a risk finding someone successful in MLS, already incorporated into the team, loves the city/fans, and defends as much as Klauss does.
Been thinking the same about building around Klauss. Oscar might have a point, in my mind, that perhaps if you don’t want to build around Klauss perhaps a striker with more diverse abilities makes more sense than bringing in a high dollar winger (I’ve wanted one of those for a while now).
Have to wonder if Sangbin affected it. Or the LAFC defense. Either way you’re right and Critchley and co have to figure that out.
I found it kind of interesting how well McSorley did with Klauss. McSorley is a natural finishing striker that likes to lead the line…could be something to learn from. Could be a one game outlier…
Now that probably doesn’t apply to a guy being escorted out & shouting about pride flags. But I hope I would’ve been open to being his pal until I clearly needed to not be. I think I’d fight for my brothers & sisters he was berating if need arose. But not before? I dunno, how does that strike you?
I see these folks as the people we have to convince to join us in tearing down the bad parts of our government…find common ground. If they’re at a soccer game (for soccer), that’s an easy start! Beer too maybe.
I don’t say this as something I’ve figured out or fully believe yet, but I’ve been trying out being upset with the government institutions, cronyism, and legislation that I think have gotten us to where we are rather than the people who may play into their ideals.
Thanks for saying something Abby. I absolutely understand why you feel that way. Perhaps it’s naive of me to feel the way I do.
Had a blast w/ @phillgrooms.bsky.social again. 45 min of news and Montreal/CITY match talk and then a great wind down of big picture + discussion on this week’s off the field issues.
Hope you enjoy those convos as I think we hit a ton of #AllForCITY angles on all these
Very kind of you Tom. ❤️
Celebratory fallout!
Matt and I are still taking turns traveling, so a bit of a change in schedule. Thought I’d drop that we’re live streaming our show in about 30 minutes and I’m joined by @hornekerjustin.bsky.social!
Quite happy! I hope they do well!
Could be some rotation. @stuarthultgren.bsky.social guessed perhaps a Zalinsky start and I like it. If Wallem isn’t 90’ fit I hope we see JGR and Ostrak as subs.
What a game. Talking to my son and we’re listing who we’re rooting for. I know I get upset about MLs rules and Open Cup hate, but when CCC and CWC are on I root hard for the domestic clubs. Miami is my number one right now and a lot of that is bc there are 🇺🇸 to root for!
just saw a group of masked men stuffing masked ICE agents into an unmarked car, who were saying "we're ICE we're ICE!" but the abductors shouted to the crowd "no we're ICE!" no one knew who was ICE, so no one in the crowd said anything.
As we discussed this I actually kept forgetting good players were available. The guys agreed that Becher did enough to get another shot. I wanted Ostrak but Watts earned it…Wallem had to be put in. Good feeling to have a bench, but I hate missing out on Kessler and Löwen. 🥺
Oh yeah that’s bc he’d need to be loaned up from city 2.
CITY2 player. Played cm with the first team in preseason. He’s put in a lot of time at left back for the second team this year.
I’ll just add, that since Celio often goes wide it’s not that big a deal to have a right footed, underlapping left back when he’s on the field. Tho, one or two of Reid’s overlaps really seemed to help Celio on Saturday.
Relevant: The MLS Secondary Transfer Window is scheduled to open on July 24, 2025, and close on August 21, 2025.
Critch will have Reid, Wallem, Totland, Watts, Hiebert, and Cilley as likely left back options until that window at the soonest. Only Reid and Cilley are left footed, if you care.
He was one of the best players in the game statistically…imo
Normally you’d critique a Sporting Director for leaving a roster with 1 natural left back for a span, but that position has been such a problem for especially Carnell, but also Mellberg’s need for a wingback over a modern left back. Not innocent, but not fully at fault either.
