That "Death Wind" shot really sold me on the power contained in the SFC. Throw in Pilotwings, Super Mario 4 then the prospect of both Final Fight AND SF2 coming. It was "book a seat for Mind Blown City.."

Still remember the gasp/shock when seeing Zzap! team mention other platforms. BBC and Atari 800 games always felt mysterious to me. Paved the way for me going Nintendo very early on.
It cannot be stressed enough that this was ONE POUND NINETY NINE as well. This was stellar stuff and light years above of Mastertronic stuff like "Bionic Granny" or "BMX Racers" Firebird brought some real 64l bangers like Joe Bonars "BMX Kidz" or Simon Picks astonishing "Micro Rhythm"
And STILL playing it. Stone cold classic. Still hold my attention. Looks and feels great still!
STOAT is Darrin Stubbington who worked at Iguana Texas. Was a good colleague of mine for several years. Great guy!
The killer line was "and I'm hearing reports it could be comimg to the SFC....." - this was HUGE
I felt that if Pat Sharp had one then it MUST be good.
Met all of these through work except @uridium.bsky.social
Agree! How is the Joystick?
Starting Friday off with an episode of "Street Hawk" - everyone needs more "Le Parc" by Tangerine Dream playing in their lives. Hyperthrust is cleared.....
I miss those halycon early GameBoy days. The thing was a marvel. Once rode a Greyhound bus across ND. A young child was bored. I showed him the GB. He used all my batteries. At the truck stop my lunch was paid for by the other PAX for keeping the kid occupied!
Totally agree. NES Pinball is still a regular go-to for me.
All killer no filler right there. Still playing GB "Gator" 35 years later..
We will never experience this again
And quite an atmospheric vibe the moment the cart booted right? Played it for a long time!
One of my Teachers did a demo of VIC Omega Race at School. He entered his initials on the table as " CAT" and then announced "I am THE CAT" proudly to a group of bemused school children.

I hear you Jeff! Am out with my two Labradors four times a day. Rain or shine. Even if I am ill I there is no one else I have to go out. Patagonia Torrent Shell coat and Muck Boots (Artic) are equipped as defaults. Weather has broken me this year.
Legendary review there. Sold ne on the SFC in a big way. An under rated concept. Not a big seller in the UK. The 3DS game is really good also.
On Steam Deck I am playing "Doom 64"
Agree. Worst. Weather. Ever.
In touch with some old friends from the early 80s again
Much talk of early VIC and C64 games. Woke up and listened to @stinkyox.bsky.social talks on YT. Always wonderful stuff!
Some amazing key art there by Bob Wakelin as well.
Watching the history of SNK on YT. I still think about Ikari Warriors a lot. Had a massive influence on me.
This was one of the first 2P games I really enjoyed. Bruce and "the Yamo" working together or just beating up Ninja all the time. And a great Title Screen theme. Had it on disk.
In Archer's house he built.a faithful recreation of the JW snooker room. Complete with mousehole in the corner. A true genius.
Owning a SteamDeck reminds me of owning a PC Engine or GameBoy on UK import back in the early 90's. You replace the unheard of but interesting NEW Japanese games with small bespoke games on Steam. Have had a LOT of fun playing the SUPERB "Rush Rally Origins" and just wishlisted the upcoming "4PGP"
Spent the day playing Online on Xbox. Af the risk of sounding Too Old it is not what it used to be. Not putting a headset in the box means most people dont have one and if they do there is no chat. Live used to be a great place to be.
Either way it is a shame that this will be the last one. So much hard work for years for the studio.
I feel as if I have driven these same tracks since the Xbox 360. Why not reuse them all? Where is Prague from FM5?
