Support Kyle Fraser’s Recovery after Two Strokes
Some of you may know I’ve been dealing with a personal matter over the last week. Most of you do not. I consider myself a very private person but I need to ask for help at this time. Last week, my partner and best friend, Kyle Fraser, suffered from two strokes in a single day. There is a very long and expensive road ahead, and our friends have been gracious enough to help organize a GoFundMe for anyone who wishes to offer their support. On it, we have written up more detail on his condition for anyone curious. Even a repost or share helps. The link to that is in my bio, my story, highlights - pretty much anywhere. Thank you for your thoughts and support at this time. Apologies in advance if I take some time to reply, I’m taking it one day at a time.
For those who don’t know him, Kyle is probably the most compassionate person I’ve ever met. He is as gentle and brilliant as much as he is strong and funny. He loves his two cats Poly and Moog, and adopted them with the explicit intention of ‘which cats are you having a hard time adopting?’ Though he can be reserved and introverted, Kyle has a fierce passion for his career and will always offer a helping hand to anyone in need, often taking calls to mentor professionals beginning their career. I’ve become a better person through knowing and loving him.

Anything helps, a like, a share, a donation. thank you for your support during this difficult time ❤️
Congrats!
World of Warcraft: Midnight is out now!
A real pleasure to work with everyone on this team ♥️
It ain’t pretty, but the patchbay is done!
This perspective is mainly based on inconsistencies I’ve ran into when designing shorter, snappier assets for runtime playback in games.
For music application, I love LUFS-I
Generally speaking, I find them useful. But…
LUFS-M is all over the place for short program material. You could playback a sub-0.5 second file and get any range of measurements.
Plus, LUFS skew in favor of midrange. While this *generally works*, it’s not always aligned with our loudness perception
New pre! :)
I like to build custom ones in Phase Plant using the granular engine. Same deal for creature source generation; toss in a few different creatures and cross your fingers for happy accidents :)
Agreed, it’s entirely dependent on the pipeline. Jira is far and away my favorite. I’ve worked under some nightmare processes and proprietary tooling. The former ALWAYS impacts the latter.
Me but with Soundtoys’ Radiator causing aliasing artifacts
Why are all modern restaurants so gimmicky? I just want good food 😭
Yeah and honestly, whatever works for folks, more power to them. I just think there’s other ways to arrive at the sound parallel compression can give you without the potential of phasing or session/track count bloat.
It’s such an additive process that my thought is usually “just turn it up”
I strongly dislike parallel compression
The AR-TG Spreader does magical things.
7 years ago, 19 year old me was thrown into the hot seat!
(1/2) If you're considering releasing a sound effects library, or you want to sharpen your strategies for your next one, I'll be sharing key principles and my own approaches at AirCon25, June 10. It's free, and I hope you can join us!
New gear day!
Ok hold up it’s DEFINITELY the bluesky compression. My data was pulling the audio stream and it sounded like wind through a vocoder at first lol
Amazing how digital it sounds. I’m sure the bluesky compression doesn’t help, but such a unique sound nonetheless!
Looks so good as expected. One of the few single player IPs that’s a day 1 buy for me :)
No fancy trailer, just hard work and my favorite sfx library yet. Modern Magic is inspired by telekinesis and force powers, but works across many genres. Huge thanks to the wildly talented Jesse Rope for his priceless contributions. Check out the demo! www.paulstoughton.com/sfx-store#!/...
I really wish Marathon was a single player game.
I feel the same way. So weird how that happens, but I just haven’t been connecting with his music as much over the years.
The stacked Stream Deck setup is slick, I’ve never seen that
This video is the best example I’ve ever seen of narrative driving creative direction.
I finally bought a halfway decent webcam and now I’m reeling in embarrassment over how lo-fi I’ve looked in meetings for the past 4 years.
I am so grateful for every day
