There is no way this family should be paying this bill. The hospital is supposed to bill the woman’s estate. They will make it sound like they have to but the family has absolutely no responsibility. If the hospital by law has to keep the woman alive why would they agree to pay?

I bet this hospital would have found the courage to do the right thing if they weren’t able to trick the family into paying the bill.

Usually they have to recover from the patient’s estate. I’m not sure the family voluntarily is paying. Did they realize they don’t have to? I’m cynical but I think these hospitals find a way to let the woman die in dignity when they know they will have to eat the cost.

The hospital is usually required to bill the patient’s estate in circumstances like this. I think they tricked the family into thinking they were responsible. Would they have found a way to let her die in dignity if they were on the hook for the bill? Hmmmm….

No the boyfriend was trying to get her admitted when she went to the hospital when she was complaining of headaches. He wouldn’t have had any authority to make that decision anyway.

Apparently the family is but I don’t see why they would have been liable or voluntarily agreed to that. I bet if the hospital were on the hook they would have found a way to pull the plug.
