Also, Ruby 3.2 EOL is March 31st, so best to upgrade to Ruby 3.3 soon!
This is an ambitious skill (to get you from Rails 2.3 to 8.1!) based on our experience and best practices. It's based on our ebook: The Complete Guide to Upgrade Rails.
You can read more about it over here: github.com/ombulabs/cla...

Part of the process will involve testing our #OpenSource Claude Code Rails Upgrade Skill and improving it based on a real problem: Upgrading a Ruby on Rails application from 7.0 all the way to 8.1.

At the same time, we have been building our own AI-powered tooling at @ombulabs.ai and doing extensive research on how AI can help teams upgrade applications faster.

Since 2018, we’ve spent more than 60,000 developer hours upgrading #Ruby and #Rails applications. Over time, we’ve developed a structured process and a set of best practices to make these upgrades safer and more predictable.
For this particular project we decided to heavily use @anthropic.com's Claude Code through the entire project.
We’re also recording as much of the work as possible so other engineering teams can see how we approach Rails upgrades at @fastruby.io 🚀
👨🏻💻 This week Henrique Medeiros and I started the #Rails upgrade project for the Irish Chess Union! Here is a video of our pair session.

Really thankful to have FastRuby.io on board with us this year! ☺️ Jess and I got to interview @etagwerker.bsky.social back in December to hear how their team is working in the age of AI. www.indierails.com/69
Heroku is not going away anytime soon.
Still, I highly recommend migrating to a modern platform that will continue to innovate on their infrastructure, reliability, and performance.
If you’re interested in migrating, check out our new service:

#heroku #paas
RIP #Heroku. You led the way for many years and you inspired all of us to simplify things that were really really complicated. Thank you for it all!
#paas #devops
The time to migrate is now. We know that other platforms will continue to innovate, while #Heroku will continue to lag behind (as they've been doing for years now)
#devops
I’m also excited because this is something that we've done multiple times in the past and we have a process that has been battle-tested on hundreds of applications.
We know we can help companies migrate in an organized way that will be seamless to their customers and engineering teams.
Most of our internal tools are on #Heroku and we now need to add this to our roadmap too.
On the bright side, I’m also grateful Salesforce didn’t kill the platform many years ago.
I’m a bit sad about this because #Heroku has been one of my favorite #PaaS platforms since they launched. I've had so many side projects and fun little experiments in that platform and now it's likely going to continue to stagnate.
Zero downtime Migration service By FastRuby.io A productized way to migrate away from Heroku and to modern platforms.
This week we launched a new productized service by @fastruby.io: Our zero-downtime Heroku migration service. 🚀

Document page showing "Bug Fixes" and "Security Issues" sections listing supported Rails releases with dates, highlighting 7.2.x support until August 9, 2026.
If you are doing some planning this week, consider adding checkpoints for upgrading your #Rails app
Specifically, if you are still running Rails 7.2T.x
Security fixes end: August 9, 2026
Maybe it sounds like there is enough time but time flies.
Felicidades!

Episode 69 just came out of the lab! 👨🔬 Ernesto Tagwerker (@etagwerker.bsky.social), founder of OmbuLabs and FastRuby.io, returns to chat about the changing industry landscape and running an agency in the age of AI. Thanks for catching up with us, Ernesto! 🙏☺️

Maybe add an option to block scam/spam event invitations from a specific domain?
#Google #GoogleCalendar #Scam
The screen to report spam in Google Calendar needs work.
It would be so nice if Google Calendar caught up with the times and offered more options to block scams and #spam: “Block invitations from *all* unknown senders” seems a bit drastic when you use your calendar for work.
