NEW: The Union Bug is back! On this week's episode, I spoke with @dgorganize.bsky.social about his forthcoming book, "Unions of Our Own: 8 Building Blocks to Change Work...and the World."
It's a damn good conversation and I hope you'll check it out. Daniel's book is out April 28th.

A new report from the University of California shows that the state's decision to raise the minimum wage for fast food workers to $20/hr didn’t hurt jobs, or raise prices much.
Data from over 2,000 restaurants shows that the $20/hr minimum wage didn’t reduce employment.

BIG NEWS! Amazon ordered by NLRB to bargain with Amazon Labor Union: www.nlrbedge.com/p/04022026-n...
After the 2024 Amazon Teamsters strike, the retail supergiant retaliated against workers by docking Unpaid Time Off, a bank of hours that give workers some cushion when unexpected emergencies arise and they need to take time off work. Amazon can fire them if they run out of UPT.
NEW from me: After major pressure from the Teamsters union both at the shop floor and in NLRB-mediated negotiations, Amazon has agreed to stop retaliating against workers for exercising their right to strike. "This is a huge win for us," shop floor organizer Josh Black said.
Coffee, for most, is a low-wage and precarious industry. Workers in the U.S. must navigate rock bottom wages, at-will employment laws, and few workplace protections.
Unionising, and securing a contract is one of the most powerful ways workers can combat these threats and improve lives. #CoffeeSky
Interviewing women coffee farmers in Colombia, Lucia Bawot realised that most of them were facing mental health challenges without any help. She created SANA to address this unmet need.
100+ women have now received mental healthcare through SANA. Its success offers lessons for the wider industry.
“After over 20 years working grocery retail, unionizing my store with my coworkers, and talking to other retail workers across the country, I’ve learned that grocery workers across our industry face similar challenges," Maeg from @traderjoesunited.bsky.social shared with us.

“When management says they can't afford better wages or they can't fix staffing, we'll have the receipts showing exactly how they're running these stores into the ground. That's how we stop fighting their fights on their terms and start fighting ours on ours.”
“Documenting what we already know is broken, finding out it's broken everywhere, and using that information to build real power,” Janet from @NSLU_PDX shared.
