8 years of xenografting breast cancer cell lines and thorough characterisation of the resulting mouse models revealed that context really matters. Breast cancer growth morphology and aggressivess are regulated by auto- and paracrine TGF-beta signalling and strongly depend on transplantation method.
Immensely happy and grateful that our paper got featured in the latest highlights in cancer research. Big thanks to the EACR and all co-authors whose efforts went into this piece of work!
Proud! 💙 Our scientific director Thijn Brummelkamp receives the Spinoza Prize, a prize for scientists who belong to the best researchers worldwide. A wonderful recognition for his groundbreaking research.
Congrats Thijn! 🎉 @thijnbrummel.bsky.social

It's been a real pleasure having this joint ICR NKI retreat again. Many thanks for coming over and the truly inspiring discussions!
Excited to share our review on epigenetic reprogramming in brain metastasis. We review published studies on epigenetic drivers and outline future research directions we’re exploring: www.nature.com/articles/s41...

And lastly, hot off the press in Oncogene, a great effort by the Prekovic lab @stefanprekovic.bsky.social on describing the roles of STAG2 in cohesin biology and cancer:

Endocrine-Related Cancer gave us the opportunity to write about the complex biology underlying luminal breast cancer and highlight challenges and advances in the field. It was a pleasure writing this with @stefanprekovic.bsky.social and @damirvareslija.bsky.social:
