Large-scale Characterization of Orthotopic Cell Line–Derived Xenografts Identifies TGFβ Signaling as a Key Regulator of Breast Cancer Morphology and Aggressiveness Establishment and investigation of the largest collection of fully characterized breast cancer cell line xenograft models identifies key determinants of tumor morphology and aggressiveness and enables...

8 years of xenografting breast cancer cell lines and thorough characterisation of the resulting mouse models revealed that context really matters. Breast cancer growth morphology and aggressivess are regulated by auto- and paracrine TGF-beta signalling and strongly depend on transplantation method.
