We welcome the announcement that the grace period for granted refugees to remain in government accommodation will be doubled from 28 to 56 days starting today. This is a crucial step towards ensuring smoother transitions for those rebuilding their lives in the UK.

Congratulations to Stan who was granted refugee status last week after a wait of nearly 5 years. We have supported Stan for the past 4 years, including the recent successful appeal against his refusal. He can now start his new life. We wish him all the best.

🏛️ The UK asylum system is harsh, especially for LGBTIQ+ people. Proving sexual orientation or gender identity often involves invasive scrutiny. Meanwhile, many are isolated and fearful of those they fled. This hostile environment makes our work vital.
💔 Many people we support fled their home countries because being LGBTIQ+ is both rejected and criminalised. In some places, their sexual orientations and gender identities are punishable by death. After a courageous journey to the UK, their struggles are far from over.
