I gave the Green Party a donation to help fight Gorton and Denton and the hope the Green Party gave me by winning (and seeing Labour get hammered) made it worth every single penny.
I've just done the same for the local elections. I want to feel that hope again on May 8th
Because the Greens famously develop policy on the basis of focus groups, national polling and what will play well in the media rather than committed policy working groups of interested members working with evidence over time.
Oh.
He was. And it pissed me right off tbh. BUT his primary duty as an MP should be to his constituents, party leader is secondary in this situation. It sucks, but that's the right priority even if it's something that, frankly, causes extensive creative curses on first seeing the news.
... If GP councillors went round voting for everything with a convincing coat of greenwash in order to prove their radical mettle, I'd have big issues with that. The devil is in the detail blah blah.
I think there's a couple of things going on. Yes, definitely some NIMBYism from certain demographics but recent influx of members I suspect will outweigh that. But also, very much that proposals have to be right, not just new infrastructure for it's own sake. ...
...up on all the local details. My point is, that the Greens don't whip and every member is free to follow their conscience and argue their case. There is party policy, but that obviously isn't as granular as reaching consensus on every local planning application.
Adrian Ramsay MP is not "The Greens". He is *a* Green representing his constituents on a local issue. Personally, as *a* Green, I think he should be leading rather than following on this issue as imo pylons are not only cheaper but also less disruptive environmentally long term. That said, I'm not..
"When ordinary people vote for ordinary people."
Please Vote.
Make your choice work.
Its time.
You have 7 days folks.
I really do believe there is a chance to make government a place to represent the population.

Congratulations on not being a sociopath. Who knew it was so common.
It's a sad state of affairs, but as far as I can work out, it seems most parties are motivated to get people to vote for them so they can get into power, whereas Greens are interested in making things better and hope that will encourage people to vote for them.
In fairness, change IS hard. Not changing is gonna be even harder tho.
Just take the train or ferry instead of flying? Nicer view anyway.
The thing is, circumstances are going to force much harsher decisions on us all if those that are lucky enough to be able to choose to be profligate with energy don't opt to wind it in sharp-ish. Shit is getting real at pace.
If you ate 4oz of cheese a day, what would your doctor say?
As a low user who load shifts to low co2 hours, I still add nearly 4oz of carbon to the atmosphere for every kwh of electricity I use. I'm doing my best to minimise (with no solar etc) and STILL 4oz/kwh, c12oz/day.
We gotta stop!!!
My wonky brain is on top form this morning. It often hears "music" in electrical noises but today is the best ever: Gregorian chanting an Irish jig. Blissfully bizarre!
Schools should be able to afford what's best for young people.
The NHS should be able to afford to treat sick people.
Councils should be able to afford to fund social care for all who need it.
People should be able to afford to have a decent life.
Billionaires should not exist.
Celebratory music could be preselected too.
Here's something that's helping keep me going in the meantime.

Strong onesie game!
We need to hear it AND we need to Get It Done! #VoteGreen
If it's any consolation, I can't hear my washing machine beep any more. The frequency is only audible to young 'uns.
Pfft. As if we even register enough to be laughed at. They're too busy counting their wealth accumulations.
JFC. that's more than my mortgage. Counterpoint - I still can't afford maintenance.
Wouldn't we all be happier in cheap managed accommodation with no nasty surprises and long term stability.
So wish I could see past the paywall! Because this sounds like political bullshit, but I know it isn't. The hope is the point. That's what engages people and makes the rest real.
Let's all just stop and reflect for a moment.
A leader of the Green Party if England and Wales "spoke to the NYT".
Umm. We might possibly be experiencing a paradigm shift!!
Heaven forfend the sensible and scientifically rigorous policies that the Greens have built over *decades* actually become national policy and change people's lives instead of our current tribal ideological battles.
Ooh, you lying get! 😜 You know full well they'll say absolutely anything in pursuit of votes and do absolutely anything to serve their paymasters regardless of what they promise the electorate.
I'm a Green member, not because I want to be part of Team Green or Team Zack (joined years before his leadership anyhoo) but because of the POLICIES. Written by invested, informed, specialist party members based on what *works* not rhetoric.
Let's just fix shit and not fight, m'kay?
Had my ADOS. Brought up stuff been working thru with AI in lieu of support network. Discussing capitalism/disability and it came up with:
The tragedy isn't that people like you can't contribute. It's that the system spends so much energy excluding you that it never finds out what you had to offer.
It's a failure of society. And none of these interlocking problems will be solved until we change our society.
We obviously have different plans to do that, but they're complementary, not in opposition.
