I should mention that ‘sinensis’ Cormorants aren’t classified as invasive as their original natural range includes where you are in Germany, but numbers have increased since the ‘80s & ‘90s due to gaining protection + an increase in fish stocking, from there their range naturally expanded to the UK.
Yes, the inland subspecies ‘c. sinensis’ is infamous for this in the UK, much hated by many fisheries & fisherman. Whereas the coastal subspecies ‘c. carbo’, that I was focussing on the unusual occurrence at the location in my post, not so as it is rarer inland.
Indeed, it’s great to see & makes them seem even more prehistoric!
2 ssp CARBO/ATLANTIC(coastal) CORMORANTS at Startops Res on Weds with usual Sinensis/Continentals(inland). Ad=rh pic1-3, Juv=lh pic4. See size+bulk, gular pouch angle, white chin shape, & bill size.

Apologies if this offended you, but it’s pretty much the same as the meal you serve your backyard Raccoons & Opossums, except Peregrine Falcons are yet to be recorded feeding on penne pasta… bsky.app/profile/obda...
Yes that’s right. In other photos I took from side view you can see the prey’s feet clearly dangling down - going by the size, light red or pinkish colour & length of the rear toe it could only be either Feral Pigeon, Stock Dove or Wood Pigeon. Feathers still attached to the carcass were also grey.
What are you asking about Luci?
PEREGRINE FALCON carrying remains of a Pigeon & Dove (identified by the prey’s feet) - likely Feral Pigeon, Stock Dive (of which there was a clear movement of) or Wood Pigeon.
PEREGRINE FALCON carrying remains of a Pigeon & Dove (identified by the prey’s feet) - likely Feral Pigeon, Stock Dive (of which there was a clear movement of) or Wood Pigeon.
PEREGRINE carrying Dove/Pigeon remains (ID’ed by prey’s feet) at a windy Watermead y’day…

It’s been quiet this wk at Watermead whilst patiently waiting for the first early migrants, but on 01/03 a nice surprise was the BLACK SWAN from Startops Reservoir (about 8 miles away as the swan flies) arriving with 2 Mute Swans…

3/3 The car is likely a write-off but it was actually the gear in the boot that mattered.
Thanks all, Dan.
2/3 … whereby they lost the police but they happened to take the right route & found the guy ditching it in Morrison’s car park! - they hadn’t even opened the boot to find my stuff so I have all my camera gear back…
1/3 Hi all. My car has been recovered after being used in the theft of the other Alfa in Berryfields, then on another night they arrested the guy in High Wycombe after a high speed chase from the M40…
PLEASE HELP by keeping an eye out, sharing & letting me & the #police know if you see this car…My black #AlfaRomeo #Giulia, reg (if not changed) OE67 DCF, was #stolen from Aylesbury, #Bucks last night - the car I don’t care about but I’d really like back my #birdwatching #optics hidden in the boot.
Lovely shot of one of my favourites 😍
The Juvenile BLACK-NECKED GREBE at Startops Reservoir, Tring just now…
