Also they have social media in Canada and Carney's doing fine.
They have it in Spain and Sanchez has been PM since 2018.
And in France where Macron's been President since 2017.

Ed Miliband has said he'll “double down, not back down” on government’s clean energy mission in the face of critics calling on him to change course
The Energy Sec said "solar panels, heat pumps and EVs are not woke, or a left-wing conspiracy, or even a Marxist plot. They're actually common sense"
It is preposterous and honestly rather shameful for Starmer to act so upset over the Mandelson affair. He is basically attacking Robbins for doing precisely what he wanted him to do inews.co.uk/opinion/unbe...
The fact that Mamdani just seems like a cheerful normal guy who's policies are things like "we're going to tax second homes to fund pothole repairs" or whatever and yet this generates panicked responses like "This is basically Stalin's great purge turned up to eleven" is... telling. It tells things.
BREAKING: Chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee Emily Thornberry has written to Sir Oliver Robbins requesting he appear before the Foreign Affairs Committee on Tuesday 21 April to give evidence on the vetting process for former Ambassador Lord Peter Mandelson
The significant year on year fall on boat arrivals is broadly unreported by BBC or other media. It has less to do with imminent government changes currently going through than a fall in "push factors" that is Europe-wide
Duncan is absolutely right. This incredibly silly debate has dragged on because it wasn't clearly and immediately ruled out.
But part of that is because neither Number 10 nor the Treasury have ever wanted to actually level with the public on tax and spend. This is just the tip of the spear.
If one of my party's recent prime ministers had redecorated the Number 10 flat in a way that ended up involving TWO separate inquiries and a Wikipedia page, I would simply not have put out a press release confirming that the current prime minister had spent less than the allowance he was given.
Half Man Half Biscuit. Terrible.
Could be an unusual experiment in what it's like to have no leader, no candidates and no members

We already knew Richard Tice aggressively avoided tax. Now we’re told his company just plain failed to pay tax that was legally due. For someone supposedly in public service he goes to extreme lengths to avoid paying his fair share towards public services www.thetimes.com/uk/politics/...
@sturdyalex.bsky.social @alexpodyssey.bsky.social just finished parts 1 & 2 of Europa - on a crowded train, beaming at your final peroration- to the confusion of other travellers!
Wonderful stuff - specialists be damned, it’s great when art, geography, myth, history & more all come together. Bravo.
Wonderful piece ... cue embarrassing overly loud guffaw on train from yours truly
News I'm hearing from across universities is disastrous. The sector has been falling apart for months, but the process is now continuously speeding up. Outside a small handful of institutions, HE as we've known it has basically zero future.

BBC News is going very hard on its investigation into advisers who help people ‘fake’ asylum claims, focusing especially on people who falsely claim to be gay. But it doesn’t say what percentage of claims are made on the basis of sexuality. As of 2023 — the last available figures — it was 3%.

I suspect that had Labour not contrived to lose so many voters to the Greens and LDs over the past year that they would now be ahead of Reform in the polls, with the Conservatives not too far behind. Which would rather alter the tenor of press coverage compared to when Reform continue to lead.
Immigration enriches our society and benefits our economy. Changing settlement rules will have financial consequences for us all - this video explains why and how. If truth matters to you when it comes to immigration pass it on.

Times reports on far right support of Restore Britain. Report did not mention that Steve Laws - vocal racist advocate of 'total remigration' of all minorities from UK - is a party member, not just urging support. Party refuses to set any racism boundary for members

@alastaircampbell2.bsky.social loved your @restispolitics.bsky.social tribute to Hungary so much: a moving, eloquent celebration of the best of humanity and liberal democracy. Chapeau bas.
Think that you were clearly connected in to the Hungarian population with your Europa finale @sturdyalex.bsky.social - you must be over the moon. @quietriotpod.bsky.social is going to be a proper party with this + Starmer lining up dynamic EU alignment
One of my cartoons in Monday's Metro
Wonderful as ever, with the most beautiful, moving finale from @sturdyalex.bsky.social - awe and learning, not boundaries
It is hilarious in every way but my fingers are still firmly crossed for Hungary today.
Your regular reminder that the US had a pain-stakingly negotiated and workable deal with Iran when Trump came to power, but he tore it up. He's now desperately trying to secure a deal much worse than the one he set aside.
Obama consistently acted like someone horrified by nuclear weapons, from the Iran deal to New Start, and got remarkably little credit for it.
You'd think this whole bizarre affair would be a far bigger story
