Few people with #bipolardisorder speak openly of their diagnosis or treatment - and far fewer speak to reporters about it.

That makes it hard to get attention for the fact that help is available, and treatment works.

This commentary was the first place I've gotten to write about and theorize how medical education inculcates trainees into a culture of the "dys-appearing body" (to use Leder's phrase), as in, how medical school trains people to ignore their bodily needs.
