Terms like decolonising, indigenising, relational, healing, voice, epistemic justice can make weak arguments feel difficult to challenge because critique can be reframed as political insensitivity rather than normal scrutiny.

Some of the “indigenous knowledge/ research” masks a lot of pseudo science.

Yes. A people can have a coherent world on their own terms. But that does not settle whether their beliefs about medicine, gender, authority, spirits, or bodily practices are true, false, harmful, or adaptive.

Two truths can coexist:
1. Vini jr shouldn’t be racially abused
2. Vini jr is an annoying prick.

“There's something so anti-social about identity politics... voices in the left that attack identity politics are immediately construed as being in alignment with Trump. “

From Run Nation to Power Slap: what is leading the dumbing down of sports? From violent collision contests to celebrity-backed offshoots, spin-off sports are finding captive audiences. Their spectacle masks something more sinister

“The extractiveness of the new sporting landscape is so intense that sports that did not exist 10 years ago already have their own satellites and breakaways; the exploiters have now become the exploited.” www.theguardian.com/sport/2026/m...

The next custodians of football as a product will have to innovate the sport. Ps. VAR isn’t the way to go 🙂🙃

3 weeks ago 0 0 0 0

Also… me thinks the Baller League and Kings league typa ventures sense that football as a cultural product is loosing its essence. Their diagnosis may be correct but their prescription (of working with influencers )is not that different from what FIFA is doing by working with content creators

external contractors to amplify it???
How can one organize a boxing match between Mohamed Ali and Joe Frazier yet the biggest star in the building is an external contractor? If the football itself isn’t potent enough to claim audiences… maybe FIFA is desecrating it?

Don’t get me wrong. I love Speed and my guilty pleasure is watching The Beta Squad. I think these kids have created a brand that can exist without football (and FIFA). That FIFA is working them is actually a confession of failure. How can FIFA have the most potent cultural product but still need

At the end of it all the world will be united though. Because football unites the world.

By design, not error - josimarfootball.com Gaming the system or playing the game: is Morocco a scapegoat of African football’s own making?

Pleased to share that my article, first published on Interstice, has been republished by @josimarfootball.bsky.social. I argue that the Morocco-Senegal AFCON dispute is best understood as part of a wider institutional pattern in African football governance.

If anything… the ones who will most likely be affected by the visa restrictions are federation officials who aren’t doing much to deal with the dysfunction in African football. And they’ll probably have the money to pay for the Visa. Hm!

The diaspora % in African national teams as well as the disinterest in the game goes down to how African football federations (FIFA affiliates) have run down the game. So how and why does anyone expect FIFA to stop the illusion it creates? Change the frame. Or you’ll be part of the illusion.

3 weeks ago 2 0 1 0

With how foreign African national teams are becoming… it suffices to say that Africa is already boycotting the World Cup? Add to that how AFCON didn’t have fans so where do you expect these fans who didn’t travel within the continent to travel to USA to watch the sport?
