This was certainly our experience at the farmers market two years running during Stanley Cup finals, only so much time and disposable income, regular customers spent time and $ on game night activities instead. www.thestar.com/business/tor...

The way that number keeps on rising. Impressive, Canadians. Our capacity to bear a grudge is inspiring.

Mamdani hasn't had time to really think about all that space he now has, because he spends most of his time at City Hall and around New York City. He tries to keep a semblance of his old life by getting around the city on foot, by bike or train.

"If you spend every single day driving around in a tinted window security detail, you will have a very specific view of the city," he said. "You actually meet other New Yorkers and you break out of the bubble that so many have come to expect of politics, where politicians only seem to be spending time with other politicians or the people who donated to make them politicians."

I'd say that this applies to anyone traveling in a car in any city. Being in a car versus walking, riding, or taking transit fundamentally changes how you view a place and your relationship to it. I wish more leaders set this kind of example.

The moments after a birth at home. A midwife charting in a client's kitchen. A family in a birth center, siblings meeting their baby for the first time, right there in the room.

Those moments are real, and they're hard to find.
When we need images to tell the story of community...[1/3]

Orbán’s electoral defeat is not simply some abstract thing happening in a far away country overseas

Orbán’s government played a big role in convening the international far-right. Groups funded by Orbán’s gov’t even sponsored Canadian Conservative MPs to attend ultra social conservative conferences:

Agree with all but the last, freezing is quite legitimate and some really great roasters use it. (And also, there are some fabulous high end instants.) All the rest? Facts.

This situation needs to be resolved, & across Canada we need to be addressing the shortage of midwives w/ the same effort we are putting into our other health care worker shortages. Birth is the no.1 reason for hospitalization in Canada. Let’s treat this issue with the seriousness it deserves.

I read a lot of conservative media, and let me just say that this Washpost house editorial is one of the most shameful pieces of unsubstantiated, free-market claptrap that has been published all year, by anyone.

Barely a mention of the thousands of deaths caused by US aid cutbacks.
