Dunno what THE PITT is but yeah.

Its purpose, its selling point, its use value, is the psychological salve or prophylaxis provided against worrying information or cognitive dissonance. It sells an audience the feeling of validation for their adherence to ideas based on ignorance, prejudice, cynicism, and grubby self-interest.

Right-wing media performs an intellectually, morally, politically, historically, factually accurate, defensible, respectably arguable acceptance and advocacy of reactionary ideology and claims, for an audience that wishes to accept those claims because they represent their class and race identity.

We usually think of Fox News and right-wing media as propaganda; it is better understood as apologetics. It's less about brainwashing people and more about providing reassurance to those whose membership of reactionary identity politics depends upon public acceptance of blatantly false propositions.
