Thanks for this thread, very interesting. For a short-term measure, saving the fuel from short haul flights may be the best policy/political option if there are other transport options available (trains e.g.) - saving that 6% may be all that’s possible for now, and is that not better than nothing?

I really wish there were far more pedestrian crossings in Dublin.

I'm constantly trying (/failing) to get this point across.

If you're a trained expert in a field, then it may be worthwhile to question the scientific consensus of your peers.

If you're not, the scientific consensus is absolutely the best you can do and it's arbitrary foolishness to disregard it.

“Democracy in fact possesses unique resources that make it better, not worse, than authoritarianism at dealing with emergencies and crises," argue Nomi Claire Lazar and Jeremy Wallace.

They've done it again, they've cut more rail projects. The most criminal one for me is cancelling the reopening of the Waterford-Wexford/Rosslare line. On the left is the All-island Rail Review published by the last government and on the right is the plan published today.

The European Council just held an in-depth discussion on how to make sure that Europe’s climate ambitions and the competitiveness of our economy go hand in hand.

We reaffirmed our commitment to the Paris Agreement and stressed that we need to be pragmatic and flexible in our strategy.

Current empirical evidence does not support optimism on climate action. We can, maybe should, maintain hope - hope for change - as long as that hope drives more and faster action.

I am disappointed with the handling by Prime Time of this presidential debate. We have learned very little about either candidate’s plans and vision for the presidency. Someone tuning in for the first time will only hear about their pasts, nearly nothing about their vision for the future. #Aras25

Europe is increasingly facing climate-related hazards. Extreme temperatures, heavy rainfall, and droughts threaten human health, ecosystems, and create substantial economic losses.

Join us tomorrow 26/08 at 11.30 at Mont des Arts #Brussels to honour the 200+ journalists killed in #Gaza and demand: Israel, stop killing journalists!

A public reading of the names of the journalists killed in Gaza will pay tribute to their courage, condemn their murder and call for justice.

This morning my 10 year old daughter woke up in a rage this morning. She went on a rant about all the stupid, idiot people that are ruining the world.

Her list included Trump, Putin, Kim-Jong Un, the Taliban, the ‘Benjamin guy in Israel’… ‘All these selfish, lying men!!’
