Picture of Marjane Satrapi alongside a quote from her. The quote reads:

The world is not divided into countries. The world is not divided between East and West. You are American, I am Iranian, we don't know each other, but we talk together and we understand each other perfectly. The difference between you and your government is much bigger than the difference between you and me. And the difference between me and my government is much bigger than the difference between me and you.

And our governments are very much the same...

- Marjane Satrapi, Iranian-French graphic novelist

Thinking about this quote from Persepolis creator Marjane Satrapi again.

"A tidal wave of hostile messaging:" The billions spent each year by fossil fuel industry demonising renewables Head of energy policy in world's fourth biggest economy says scale and pace of energy transition is unprecedented, but the fossil fuel industry is fighting back.

"In the United States, the fossil fuel industry budget for Communications and Public Affairs is $4 billion a year. The entire renewable energy industry is $150 million... and so we have a lot of work just to get the message out about the basic facts."

Just imagine:
"What point do you think the author is making with this poem?"
"I think they (insert opinion)"
"Well you're wrong. Do you think you, as a twelve year old, know better than a famous poet?"
"Well I have just had my first novel published..."

I love #worldbookday but it can cause serious problems. My daughter was asked to name her favourite book.
"How am I supposed to answer that?" she asks me.
I'm with her. It's an irresponsible question and impossible to answer.

First novel at 12? That's mind-blowing.
My English teacher was doing her best to make me hate poetry when I was 12.

I'm slightly worried I am turning into a lizard. When the sun is out I just want to be out in it, absorbing its energy. 😁🦎

"The men implicated in the Epstein files reinforces that I spend half my life explaining to men that their simplified, optimistic view of other men doesn’t line up with the experience of women and girls trying to dodge sexual harassment, assault and abuse attempts." - Leslie Morgan Steiner

Being Ops Manager at a GP surgery must be stressful!
I'm 5 years into long covid, currently being treated privately for Lyme's disease infection. Something the NHS won't go near. There's an awful of people, especially kids, being told to rest (for years on end) as if it is just chronic fatigue.

Unstressable: A Practical Guide to Stress-Free Living A Practical Guide to Stress-Free Living

The book is Unstressable by Mo Gawdat and Alice Law uk.bookshop.org/p/books/unst...
It looks like there are some talks by Gawdat on the subject on YouTube etc if that works better. The aim is to talk with your 'brain' to resolve internal issues. It definitely cuts out a lot of negative feelings.

So sorry to hear this. I developed anxiety as one of my long covid symptoms. If you haven't tried this type of thing already I can recommend a book that explains how to get in sync with your survival brain. It helped me, but I also know that everyone has a different 'helpful' tip.

I think I could persuade him if I crafted a persuasive handwritten letter while wearing a bow tie.

Bring it on.
Although I think that Mr Took will be on my side on this because I found some fab GIFs of people CHOMPING coriander, but the system won't let me post them. It's a conspiracy. 🌿

Barry Took? For a first time coriander offence?
That's harsh.

I put coriander in salads, great big chunks of it.
Basil can get in the bin though. Disgusting stuff.

The UK pharma industry has been shattered by Brexit and Trump. Most of the key new job roles are now in Europe or the US. They are barely hiring in the UK.

Ratcliffe is an immigrant in Monaco, where immigrants have properly taken over. Maybe being rich makes him think its different for him. Massive Hypocrite.
