This work complements other ongoing reform efforts. We hope the lessons and priorities will meaningfully inform related initiatives. [4/5]
Stakeholders share a vision of a decentralised, country-driven system – one that’s anchored in regional hubs and supported by a leaner, streamlined global health system.
They also identified urgent reforms and next steps to achieve this vision. [3/5]
Government and non-governmental representatives from over 114 countries came together to discuss global health reform.
Their insights and recommendations are captured in a newly published global synthesis paper, drawing on the reports produced by each regional partner.
So, what did we learn? [2/5]
Our global health system will change significantly. This is inevitable.
But what the future system will look like is still uncertain.
That’s why from August to November 2025, Wellcome supported regional partners to lead five dialogues. [1/5]

Faith Uwadiae, Ecosystems Manager at Wellcome, says: "We're supporting Black-led initiatives that expand opportunities for Black researchers in an intentional and thoughtful way."
Many Black-led initiatives in the UK that support the careers of Black researchers provide mentoring, safe spaces, networks and advocacy.
But they're often underfunded.
That's why we’re launching a new funding programme in partnership with Do it Now Now to help strengthen these initiatives. [1/3]
Closing the gap in youth mental health research New report commissioned by Wellcome: Understanding how interventions for youth depression and anxiety work Graphic shows two stick figures greeting each other on top of the highest bar of a bar chart
Most research into youth anxiety and depression comes from wealthy countries.
That’s not where the greatest need is.
A new report shows why understanding how interventions work - and adapting them for different contexts - is key to improving outcomes globally. https://wellc.me/4a7CrPZ
