At the Legacy Museum, facing America's racist past is a path, not a punishment "There is an America that is more free — where there's more equality, where there is more justice, where there is less bigotry — and I think it's waiting for us," says lawyer Bryan Stevenson.

Idris Robinson screen-capture from his seminal How It Might Should Be Done public talk. Text: As for Hamas, Robinson told the Guardian: “I definitely do not condemn the violence used by the Palestinian resistance. Palestinians have not been accused of perpetrating genocide, while the Israelis have been found guilty of doing so by the UN, Amnesty International and others. So the issue of whether I support violence or not is a ridiculous and immature question at this point.”

In any case, Robinson added, his main claim in both the talk and the question-and-answer session was that “the Palestinian people are not just passive victims. They have agency and there’s something to be learned from people who’ve been struggling for 75 years … about emancipatory political transformation.”

BREAKING: Texas State Fires Professor over Palestine Speech

Philosopher Idris Robinson is being fired for having principles.
He gave a talk on Palestinian resistance.
He would not condemn it.
Over a year later, TXST terminates his tenure-track contract. But he's fighting back.🧵

CBS News conducts a poll.

It finds that only 18% of Americans advocate removing Iran's leadership "by force," and 74% say Trump needs congressional approval before starting a war.

So their headline is, "CBS News poll on Americans' views on Iran prior to conflict."

In the Trump Era, Celebrating Black History Month Feels Radical Again After putting on their very best performances of solidarity every Black History Month, this year corporate marketers have seemed at a loss for words.

Brands made big shows of celebrating Blackness when it was fashionable and, above all, safe. In the Trump era, it’s a different calculation:

This administration is using healthcare fraud- a real policy concern- as a fig leaf to target political enemies. An administration that repeatedly lies and violates the law and Constitution shouldn't be trusted with unchecked power to arbitrarily pull funding without due process.

ICE detained a Minnesota teen, labeled him an ‘unaccompanied minor,’ and lost him The Trump administration is apprehending and designating immigrant kids as “unaccompanied,” even as their parents in the U.S. search for them.

ICE agents grabbed a 16-year-old asylum seeker--which they aren't supposed to do

They kept him from his parents -which they aren't supposed to do

They shipped him out of state, to a Christian ministry, which they aren't supposed to do.

Then they *lost* him.

As it stands, GEO is poised to rake in tens of billions of federal dollars for detaining immigrants over the next four years; and thanks to the Trump admin installing a top GEO executive at ICE, the company appears to have kept its competitors from profiting anywhere near as much.

As @projectsaleos.bsky.social reported on Friday, GEO just got a huge boost via a complex Navy procurement system tapped to disburse most of the $45 billion it got last year — allowing ICE to give it contracts with no competitive bids.

Notably, GEO's competitors did not get similar treatment.

The current person in charge of ICE's procurement for detention is a GEO Group executive who ran the company's immigration detention portfolio. He was granted an "ethics waiver" from DHS allowing him to hand out contracts to GEO in his new role.

I keep thinking I do not have the energy or inclination to keep getting involved in electoral politics and then along comes a race and a candidate like Cedrick Frazier.

This race is a big deal. If you believe in reducing mass incarceration and demanding police accountability, he’s your candidate.

They have cancelled one of their most popular classes, "Global Soccer and World Politics."

We are going to teach it anyway.

Building the camps The warehouseification of detention and initial thoughts on stopping it.

When I got the contract to write a history of concentration camps in 2014, I hoped to keep the US from ending up here. That didn't work out! But now it's critical to understand how much is already in process and the enormity of what's coming. The sooner we act to stop it, the more people we'll save.

“I’ve mentioned before that concentration camp regimes in their early stages often make use of large open infrastructure to convert into detention spaces. Dachau was converted from a shuttered factory into a concentration camp in 1933.”

U.K. might lose a prime minister because a guy who worked for him knew another guy who hung out with Epstein. Meanwhile the U.S. opposition party is telling our President, who was Epstein's best friend, that his secret police should get better training so their public street murders look less messy.
