If he ever even tries to lay a hand on my kid, it’ll be the last time they see each other until my kid is big enough to defend himself.

Sometimes I get so jealous that my siblings’s kids get to live near my parents, who watch them a lot. But then my dad mentions spanking my neurodivergent nibling, & I remember why I moved away in the first place.
I never understood why my dad thought it was “better” that he used his hand or a ping pong paddle when his dad used a belt.
Both are child abuse. Full stop.
"I got smacked as a kid and it didn't do me any harm!"
Yes, it did, my friend - you think it's okay to physically assault tiny people who are weaker than you with no power and actually look to you for protection. You are, in fact, really quite harmed.
I have ANXIETY in no small part because of a "go to your room and wait for your punishment spanking" upbringing. The wait was torture. Literally. I think I had panic attacks anticipating the nebulous arrival of someone coming, so every time I anticipate conflict now, at 40+, I cannot abide the wait.
Dad, leaving for work: Bye 3yo!
Mom: Daddy’s going to work. Can you say “bye daddy”?
3yo: Bye 3yo!
This one looks like a postcard from the 50s.
Some toddler is so exhausted from a busy week & 2 long car rides that any minor inconvenience is triggering the meltdown of the century. Every 5 minutes.
It’s so hard to be 3.
Every day it gets harder to focus on the good people who exist in this world, instead of the bad. So every day it becomes all the more necessary to do it anyway.
if you wanna keep your job, don't be a fucking creep. it's really that simple.
i wish all sexual predators a lovely consequence for your actions
“Centrist idiots will say, ‘So what if a book isn't available at my kid’s school library? That doesn't mean that it's been censored or banned. You can still get it somewhere else.’ That is not the point. The point is that constitutionally, your government-funded school library is supposed to serve its patrons equitably, which means providing a breadth of material in service to all users of the library. If a government says, ‘We can't let trans people, queer people, or people of color be represented, we have to take those books away,’ that means those patrons are not being served by the library. They are paying taxes towards something that is demonstrably antagonistic towards them.” - TJ Alexander
So there's a NATIONAL BOOK BAN being proposed in Congress! This week on Rebel Ever After, @tjalexandernyc.bsky.social broke down why HR 7661 sucks and what you should do to stop it: open.spotify.com/episode/0ZMd...
Tell your yoga teacher when you have a breakthrough in their class. I promise it will make their entire week. 🥹
More good news about the Grand Avenue traffic safety initiative. A CDOT spokesperson confirmed that the construction contract has been awarded and the project is moving forward. See statement below. 🥳
3yo has an entire fleet of buses & trains, and delights in showing them off to every CTA vehicle we pass.
The cool thing about being a SAHM with ADHD is that I never have any earthly clue what day it is.
Me desperately trying to get my 3yo to eat: Okay! We need 5 more trains* to go in the tunnel** before Daniel Tiger can come out to play***
*spoonfuls of mac & cheese
**your tiny mouth
***mom turns on the TV
My kid’s not in school yet, but I can totally see this happening to us one day.
happy The Confederacy Lost The Damn War Day to everyone who celebrates, and a hearty fuck you to everyone who doesn't celebrate
Come to this thread for the tea on a MAGA Pentagon adult Catholic convert threatening the first American Pope with an Avignon papacy, stay for “there is no hater on earth like a hater from Chicago.” Amen.

Panel 1: The character faces a large bug-like creature, representing an overwhelming feeling. Text: “It felt like I was trying to reason with a toddler throwing a tantrum.” Panel 2: She tries to move forward, but the creature pulls her back. Text: “And no matter how determined I was to start,” Panel 3: She struggles directly with the creature, pushing against it. Text: “all I did all day was fight with this feeling.” Panel 4: Both lie exhausted on the ground. Text: “And at the end of the day, I’d be tired without anything to show for it.”
"Why are you always so exhausted?"
"Just fought with my ADHD brain all day"
In 2016, a bunch of us were told that we were just being dramatic, we didn't need to be upset, there were checks and balances, we didn't need to worry and that things could not possibly get as bad as we imagined because no one would ever let that happen. Anyways,
Had the best reason for missing the bus today. A fire truck & ambulance pulled up, sirens & lights blazing, in front of a building on our way to the stop. 3yo was way too delighted to try & rush him past. The fire truck driver was also charmed pretty charmed by 3yo’s enthusiasm. 🚒🚑
I don’t know how to express this more clearly
Every time you do a war I’m against it
I’m against it in all forms
I’m against from All sides
I’m against the careless loss of life
good day for this reminder
"History will judge-" let me stop you right fucking there, history doesn't do fucking shit, I'm a historian, let's be clear here: elected officials need to do their fucking jobs, right now, before it happens, or future historians will judge THEM. Everyone knows and knew who Trump was.

Good day. 🐈
We can do such amazing things; they make us so much better. And we are doing so few of them compared to what we could choose to do.
