Went to re-watch Akira at the cinema and had two worrying reactions:

1. I was more upset when Kaneda's bike got ruined than I felt when any human character died.

2. I felt really bad for Tetsuo this time?I might be muddling the manga w/ the anime but I remember him being worse!

Right? The cover is so pretty and the book starts out with a girl being offered to a creepy voldemort foetus monkey thing as a sacrifice lol

Like all the pretty and gentle front cover illustrations did not prepare me for that Midsommar Wicker Man opening section.

Jennifer English's acceptance speech was genuinely really lovely

Yatagarasu Series Book 5 (Princess Tamayori) is SO good and the genre serve in a more horror (?) direction after Book 4 was essentially a boarding school coming-of-age story has worked so well. Genuinely very tense and unsettled for the first 100 pages.

Ngl I got really sad when that monkey person died at the end of Book 4, and when Wakamiya killed the monkey baby in Book 3. Yes I know the monkeys are the baddies and that they eat people (...well, not Kozaru, it seems). I just really like monkeys ok.

I understand I have a huge bias but it's absolutely wild to me that Lorien Testard/Clair Obscur Expedition 33 didn't get the BAFTA Game Music Award. That was the one award I just assumed E33 was absolutely guaranteed to win (while expecting maybe some upsets in other categories).

Also Yukiya gets better and better every book, I love that Machiavellian little guy
