For the record: The Washington Post is run by partisan hacks who think we won't remember that they took the *exact* opposite stance when it was Republicans pushing their own gerrymandering grab in Texas last year -- *without* putting it up for a vote.

I think the rise of the electric car is not helping here. Not only do most of them have near-supercar acceleration compared to the norms of 20 years ago, but they have little audible cue for speed: you lose the sound of a certain engine note in a certain gear which you know learn is "30 mph"

If that hedgie were shouting at, let's say, a rooster, then the rooster could angrily shout back "PRICK"

I was thinking a lot this weekend about those great posters you used to do on the other place, and as soon as I clear my next 24 hours of day job I have one that I need to do for a little low-budget horror feature of my own, before I sit down to the bad first draft

probably just me, but while these are extremely elegant in most subdued colours, I always think red is fail on them. Makes them look like a kiddy-car version of a fire engine

It’s critical to note that this clip should be taken as evidence that Trump is (obviously) taking cuts of the funds being used to build his new white house ballroom, the arc, etc

Watch how swiftly fake quotes get attributed to “S. Drimmer” now.

Thing is, this is exactly what ChatGPT was designed to do. Namely, jackhammer the grounds of truth beneath our feet. Whether the product is “good” or not is irrelevant. Its purpose is to remove people from acts of discernment.

This morning I’ve seen Olly Robbins’s appearance before the select committee described as ‘box office’, while a commentator flagged up another key political moment with the words ‘bring the popcorn’.

That’s one of our main problems right there.

this is one of the most-needed things at the moment, and would definitely fill a gap. Best of luck with it!

Cover of Private Eye magazine. "Private Eye" is in large, green capital letters. Under, in white letters on a red background, is the underlined word "Hungary" and the headline "Orban loses historic election." Underneath is a photo of Viktor Orban and J.D. Vance at a rally, with a crowd and Hungarian and US flags in the background. A speech bubble coming from Vance says: "Who says America can't achieve regime change?" At the bottom, on another red rectangle in white letters: "Huge triumph for MAGA." In parentheses: "Surely Magyar? Ed.).

Yep. Definitely reducing overall number of journeys, combining errands to reduce cold starts. Running a bit slower on the motorway too (as are many in the UK, based on observation). And trying to get as much done as possible before the real shortages hit, in about 6-8 weeks' time

What a weird cycle of media life, eh? Wonder how many people will be astonished to learn that it effectively started on video in the first place, back in the Olden Days?
