Thank you so much Lucky, that's really kind! ❤️ I'm really looking forward to making more work and just experimenting. Maybe I'll finally find a style I love working in.

A sketchbook page showing 3 variegated alocasia frydek leaves. One is made with just markers, the second with pencil and watercolour and the third with all three.
I'm trying to find my way back to the love of drawing after years without it. I love my job but find my personal art discouraging, particularly as I'm now interested in traditional media but haven't much experience with it.
Only one way to fix that! Have some studies of my favourite houseplant.

Happy 19th anniversary Ōkami!
I made this little pot in celebration. I can't believe it's been so long already! I had the OST playing throughout the week in my studio and every time "Reset~Thank You Version" came on I cried LOL
I will post a video of the pot in the comments!

People hate their own art because it looks like they made it. They think if they get better, it will stop looking like they made it. A better person made it. But there's no level of skill beyond which you stop being you. You hate the most valuable thing about your art.
Thank you Anastasia! I seldom share my art these days as I rarely have anything polished or intentional. Some of my favourite works are just messy sketches, though, so I shared these in the hope that they might be charming to someone. Your reply means a lot.

Hi Blue Sky. Going to make a conscious effort to transition to this platform.
You're getting so good at rich colour and texture
Rory and I had a debate around the film after because of this! He knew little about Miyazaki and I wrote my dissertation on him. 😅 I think having context helps for sure and it's fair to not be thrilled by it without that.
Oil painting of a white cat with calico blotches of grey and brown with a distinct collar of white fur around the neck. The cat is sitting up in tucked loaf position and sleeping. What makes the painting remarkable is the work on the fur. It's very realistic and finely detailed, as if painted with a brush that only had a few bristles in it.
This fur texture is incredible. I don't know who the artist is, it looks like it was a student of artist Ivan Pokhitonov
