The four humans who have traveled the furthest from Earth. (Via NASA.)
I did like the clip reels
"Welcome back to earth. It's just like you left it. We're so sorry."
Former US News & World Report CEO Fred Drasner has died. In 1987, he starred in a TV ad that mocked TIME for putting Madonna on its cover. Many years later, when I got an office in TIMEâs SF bureau, it had a giant reproduction of that cover on the wall. (I left it up.)
3. Manual Port Forwarding (The "Nuclear" Option) If your router is stubborn or you're on a corporate network where UPnP is disabled for security, you'll need to set up a manual rule. This is actually more reliable in the long run. Setting Value Protocol TCP Public Port Any available port (e.g., 5900 or 22000) Private IP The local IP of your Mac (e.g., 192.168.1.15) Private Port 5900 (Standard for Screen Sharing/VNC)
Gemini LOVES to talk about ânuclearâ options, which always seemed odd to me. Recently, it feels even less appropriate.
I really only have three rules in life:
1) Always decline travel insurance
2) Only order a Mai Tai at places that use Trader Vicâs recipe
3) If youâve invited someone to dinner and they then say theyâre planning to destroy an entire civilization, uninvite them, even if they donât
In fifty years when people look back at the past decade or so, the big world-changing technological innovation won't be the chatbot slop machines, it'll be mRNA.
I wasnât a huge Alamo Drafthouse fan in the first place, and havenât been lately, but this sounds like a reason to actively avoid it.
I wrote about Anthropicâs Mythos model, and why its arrival is yet another reason to stop framing AI in terms of a race toward AGI, or superintelligence, or whatever youâd like to call it. www.fastcompany.com/91524611/ant...
Sora screen telling me Iâll get free videos if I get friends to sign up
Now Sora is just toying with us.
(Iâm still on the service. Making Sora videos about Sora going away turns out to be a surprisingly rich vein of fodder.)
We didn't get nearly these many details about why he went to war with Iran.
Not overwhelming proof, but the most convincing such article Iâve read. (Though many previous ones were bizarrely unconvincing, like Newsweekâs scoop.)
what are some of the best things youâve read about the mythos stuff? thought this was a p good recap but whatâs out there thatâs good? www.transformernews.ai/p/claude-myt...
Itâs quite different!
At HumanX in SF? At 9:25, Iâm talking to Emmett Shear on the mainstage about his startup, Softmax, and its new approach to teaching AI to be ethical.
ANALYSIS With Threat to Wipe Out Iran's Civilization, Trump's Language Went Beyond Bluster Even if the president does not carry out his threat, his violent rhetoric risks damaging his credibility as a negotiator and the country's standing in the world. 5 MIN READ
I am being told that Donald Trumpâs credibility may be at risk. Possibly. As unlikely as it seems.
NYT headline about deadline nearing for Trumpâs promise to âwipe out a civilizationâ is in small type
I would have thought this headline might deserve a larger type size.
(The one on the left, I mean.)
"We're happy the president has accepted our invitation and look forward to hosting him."
Sen. Elissa Slotkin is one of the former military/intel lawmakers who infuriated Trump last year by making a video urging U.S. service members to refuse illegal orders.
Today, as Trump vows genocide in Iran, Slotkin says that video was made for "moments like these." www.huffpost.com/entry/elissa...
The President is openly threatening genocide. A crime against humanity. He must be removed from office.
The 25th Amendment must be invoked. If not, Congress has to do our damn job. Speaker Johnson, call us into session. War powers & impeachment. Remove this man from office.
today sure feels like one of the all time âso i still just gotta go and do my little job during all this?!â moments
I think an error people make is that Trump never facing consequences is not a thing that extends to the people around him. He may never pay for his actions but that aura doesnât cover anyone else, supporter or opponent
President Donald Trump appointed industry titans including Mark Zuckerberg, Marc Andreessen, Larry Ellison and Jensen Huang to a new presidential technology council that will focus on AI policy and other science-related issues
If I was a member of the cabinet or Congress. I would be asking myself what I would say to my grandchildren when they asked, âwhat did you do when the president of the United States threatened to destroy a whole civilization?â
Washington Post Trump warns âa whole civilization will dieâ if Iran doesnât make a deal The president had issued a deadline of 8 p.m. Eastern time for Iran to open up the Strait of Hormuz, pledging destruction by midnight if leaders donât comply. April 7, 2026 at 9:22 a.m. EDT26 minutes ago 2 min
Completely unstable and perilous. The House must bring up impeachment articles, and the Senate needs to remove a president who wants to commit war crimes. We cannot sit idly by as Donald Trump threatens to end an entire civilization.
Whatever happens, this is a deeply shameful episode in American history that will leave a permanent stain on the country.
Repeatedly vowing to commit war crimes against millions of innocent civilians is beyond the pale.
He always talks about America as if we're just another nightclub in Manhattan.
