Meet Moss, my custom WordPress starter theme Recently, a number of people have asked me about how I build with WordPress. First up, I will talk about my custom WordPress starter theme.

A really enjoyable write-up of a very nice looking WordPress theme’s development and structure.

EU gas power declined for the FIFTH year in a row in 2024 πŸ“‰

Coal also declined, bringing fossil power to a historic low and cutting power sector emissions to HALF their 2007 peak.

I have recently been thinking just how much I enjoy and appreciate bird song. I love to see different birds too, but it's the sounds of birds that for me really help.

I'd be interested in reading for sure!

The front cover of the Reflect journal, and a pen.

The front cover of the Reflect journal, and a pen.

Ending the day with a little structured journalling.

I find it hard sometimes to articulate thoughts. My mind gets messy. But I have found that journaling helps.

So I will be doing this more often. Daily, if I remember!

What do you do to help an over thinking brain? πŸ€”

It's interesting to know that there are people already moving, and so quickly! Also good to know about migration and those easier solutions to mitigate concerns from clients.

You'll have to let me know how you find ClassicPress!

Well yes, for a start, no database to query/break or be hacked. Meaning it is super simple. I like that idea! You can version control everything, the entire site if you wanted to.

I'm looking into many.. but also looking at process as well as deliverable results.

CMS's like the flat-file based Kirby sound refreshing. Also splitting the process to have a headless approach and tools such as Astro to produce very lightweight, dependancy free fontends also appeals to me.

The storm worsens in the WordPress ecosystem The drama continues. The storm worsens. Now, sadly, the sustainability team at WordPress is no more. These are my thought about it.

I finally got round to writing some thoughts about the recent turmoil and actions happening at WordPress.

Specifically, that the sustainability team had been disbanded, in a rather brutal manner.

If you're not aware of the recent goings on, perhaps have read.

The lowwwcarbon website showcase Examples of low-carbon, sustainable, web design and development. Find and learn from examples of sustainable and low-carbon websites.

Have you seen the low #Carbon showcase?

I created lowwwcarbon.com to highlight examples of low-carbon web design and development.

The showcase is a source of inspiration, research and reference for designers, developers or anyone interested in what a lower carbon web could look like.

So Bluesky crew, who has measured their #DigitalCarbonFootprint?

If you have measured your digital carbon footprint, what did you find?

What have you done since measuring to potentially reduce your footprint? I'd love to know!
