I'm only training my arm against AI bots. Not saying who's winning
π£ Exciting news:
As we've been unable to decide which is the best open-source package for psychology (PsychoPy, Open Sesame or jsPsych) @peircej.bsky.social, @cogsci.nl and @joshdeleeuw.bsky.social have agreed to resolve this once and for all, in a live-streamed, three-way.....arm wrestle!
Am loving the cartoons of my rather brilliant sister-in-law, Denny (although not sure if they'll cross post to here)

Haven't tried this but it sounds brilliant. I mean it also seems impossible! But if it works that's absolutely amazing

Who else will be at BPS cognitive this year ?! ππ
So proud of the team for this. This is a complete rewrite of the app (keeping the underlying Python lib, which also had some important fixes). Was a huge achievement to get this done in such good time, and the new app feels great to use.
Give it a go!
π£ PsychoPy Studio is out now!!
β¨ Which also means swish new branding on psychopy.org β¨
We really hope that this improves user experience in general.
Please download and try it. Let us know how you get on via the forum discourse.psychopy.org/t/introducin...
A big thank you to @brainboyben.bsky.social for running our first PsychoPy workshop at ACNS in November!
Would you like to run a workshop in Australia? Find out about our Ambassador Scheme and read about Bens experience π
We're getting excited... just putting the finishing touches to
**PsychoPy Studio**
This is a complete rewrite of the PsychoPy Builder/Coder app, now packaged in Electron.
Faster load, modernised UI, web-ready, independent of the Python interpreter

Anyone have a good alternative to alexa or Google hub displays?
Not clear that Google home hubs have a future. And i don't want ads being sent to my screen by amazon
Are there any worthwhile alternatives not tied to these two?
π§ Planned Pavlovia Maintenance β December 27th π§
During this time Pavlovia Servers will be offline. You may need to update old PsychoPy releases to continue smooth syncing to Pavlovia - see this discourse post for details.

Either way, here's a petition for the music degree if you'd like to sign

And another for the modern language degrees

I don't know what I'm most sad about. That students don't apply to these courses, or that the uni doesn't feel willing to subsidise them.
Or that government/society has decided that uni courses are only about employment rather than enriching or society and cost a funding model accordingly
...
Very sad to see my uni (University of Nottingham) suspending its Music degree and all undergraduate courses in Modern Languages, on the basis that they have low uptake and the uni hasn't enough money to carry them.
Students will lose out, the uni will lose out, society loses out
...
Huge thanks to @psychopy.org and especially @hirstrj.bsky.social ! After spending thousands on other tools with little support, Dr. Hirst solved all my technical problems within days. If you are using behavioral, eyetracking, and EEG systems in your lab, I recommend checking out PsychoPy.
Looking for PsychoPy training? or help getting an experiment ready?
Did you know you can hire us to run custom training or create tasks for you?

π Thank you to those who have shared testimonials of our workshops!
π Thank you for your testimonials!
It is great to hear PsychoPy being used in both research and teaching around the world π
You can share your testimonial here www.psychopy.org/about/testim...
Please share!
Useful for folks interested in creating behavioural tasks for #EEG as well as a bootcamp on ERP analysis! π§
Any questions please get in touch.
@psychopy.org
If you want to extend from surveys into experiments (dynamic, rich stimuli, reaction time measures etc) then you can combine surveys with PsychoPy/JS
As @rondalo.bsky.social mentioned this also supports our work building better open science tools ππ
Full disclosure: I'm PsychoPy/Pavlovia creator
To clarify on Pavlovia/PsychoPy (NB I'm biased): for research-grade surveys (with randomization, conditional Qs based on previous answers etc) Pavlovia Surveys tab will suffice (and low open pricing model pavlovia.org/docs/store/p... ). You don't need PsychoPy installation, just the browser...
Join us for a 2 day bootcamp!

We've been going green: got a 2nd hand EV (an MG ZS) and love it! Also got solar panels and battery, so now I'm in that mode of constantly checking to see how much it's charging! (Mostly just because of the novelty).
Will update soon on how it's going, but good so far π
