The Spanish Flu epidemic in 1918 killed at least 2.5 times the number of people in one year than were killed in WWI in 4 years (some estimates have it as high as 5 times).
Flu can be a bigger killer than soldiers.
So isn't vaccinating soldiers a no brainer?

In 2024, people asked why I was so interested in elections in a country I didn't live in. I said that I had friends and family that lived in the US, but, more than that, the outcome would affect the whole world. I was told I was paranoid and overreacting.
I have never been so sorry to be right.

I assume it's too much to hope some House Republicans would uphold the principle of respect for such proceedings over party politics.
No. Nobody?
Depends what it's counting down to. I can think of a couple of smitings I wouldn't lose sleep over.
Well, that's OK then. As a Brit, I was completely unaware that this is a standard uniform for a medic in the US.
Still not sure about the weird flying figure. Best guess, this is either Optimus Prime or someone wearing a tinfoil hat.
This question on my daughter's SAT practice paper has annoyed me a completely unreasonable amount.
The recent wet weather delayed the staff at Stonehenge from moving the stones as scheduled on Sunday. Work is expected to finish today. Visitors can now view the stones in British Summer Time.
I don't want to brag, but I've changed the clocks on the oven AND the car...
No expert, but my thought is that closing airspace (rather than just the airport itself) suggests trying to hide something on the ground that could be seen from the air. Presumably, closing airspace also restricts drones? If you need security for a flight, wouldn't you just close the airport?
Apparently the White House is "extremely concerned" about the redacted plans for the proposed Chinese embassy in London.
I'm not sure it's those redacted documents they should be worried about.
Abolish ICE. Fire them all. Prosecute *every single abuse*.
Now Trump is accusing the mayor of Minneapolis and the governor of Minnesota of fomenting an "insurrection".
I swear this guy thinks irony is how you get wrinkles out of clothes.
Sir Terry Pratchett is best understood as one of the most interesting, deeply ethical practical (I would say Pragmatist but I cede to actual experts) philosophers of the late 20th Century who just happened to work in deconstructed fantasy literature as his medium.
Please, will somebody give Trump an award quickly.
I believe this would be appropriate. It's available on Etsy.

Trump can't take charge of a minor emergency in his own office, yet people still trust him to take charge of a country?
Steam train to Corfe and a walk in the winter sunshine. The castle was looking particularly beautiful.
Let’s be clear.
If you celebrate a man being murdered, you are wrong.
If you try to score political points from a man’s death, you are wrong.
If you condemn a murderer for killing a man for his beliefs, then call for retribution against people based on their beliefs, you are wrong.
Stopped for a bit of lunch. Not a bad view...
Teaching the Tiny Anarchist to cook. So far, there has been a reassuring lack of blood, burns, or trips to hospital.
Raskin: In any event, if he really cared about public safety in DC… he would not have pardoned 1600 insurrectionists and violent cop beaters on his first day in office.
The local knitters have decorated our village park. So many hours went into creating beautiful things for everyone to enjoy.
I opened a book and made some friends.
I shared their tears and laughter
And followed their road with its bumps and bends
To the happily ever after.
I finished my book and out I came
The cloak can no longer hide me.
My chair and my house are just the same,
But I have a book inside me.

A copy of the book The Three Musketeers lies on a garden bench next to a brightly coloured Fuscia bush.
I opened a book and in I strode
Now nobody can find me
I’ve left my chair, my house, my road,
My town and my world behind me.
I’m wearing the cloak, I’ve slipped on the ring,
I’ve swallowed the magic potion.
I’ve fought with a dragon, dined with a king
And dived in a bottomless ocean.

Why do we measure a pool's length in metres but its depth in feet?
RIP Tom Lehrer, King of Satire, singer-songwriter, mathematician, and inventor of the Jello shot.
"Always predict the worst, and you'll be hailed as a prophet."
10 of his songs were banned by the BBC. This isn't one of those, but it is my favourite.
