The people banning books are never the same people who actually read books.

That thing they do in marketing where a website asks if you want to sign up for whatever and the choices are "YES!" and "No, I'm a stupid little baby" I'll go ahead and click the stupid baby button. Nice try but I don't care

Somebody posted this on a Discord server I frequent. Possibly the most Edwardian feline gentleman I have ever seen.

Why is my feed always the place where normies find out that most professors don’t have health insurance and that disorganised prof you hated freshman year had no teaching experience and no one told them where the copy machine was?

What I’m saying is I’m available to do comms for your faculty union

I'm in this post, and I don't like it!

I also live where winter lasts half the year.

I think they're also desperate to find a figure who they can claim is "as bad as" streamers on the right who openly believe more than half of the population shouldn't have rights. Making a false equivalency appears to legitimize the horseshoe delusion.

Asked my therapist if I could read his notes from our last session and it was just a drawing of my face with a line through it

The Columbine massacre was on this date in 1999. Instead of energizing our country to get gun violence under control, it kicked off a new normal. One of the best explanations ever of journalism's destructive impact on mass shootings came from Roger Ebert in his review of Gus Van Sant’s “Elephant.”

Sorry to be overly sincere for a second, but here's why we decided to persevere through all of the bullshit and take over InfoWars.

There's just gotta be a line somewhere.

Thank you @pablo.show for letting me talk so openly about this.

The Onion plans to turn Infowars into a comedy site with satirical echoes of the fringe conspiracy theories that Mr. Jones is known for. Tim Heidecker, one of the comedians behind “Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job!” on Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim, has been hired to serve as “creative director of Infowars.” He said he initially plans to parody Mr. Jones’s “whole modus operandi.”

Mr. Heidecker has been working on his impression of Mr. Jones. But eventually, when that joke gets old, Mr. Heidecker said that he hoped to turn Infowars into a destination for independent and experimental comedy.

“I just thought it would be just a beautiful joke if we could take this pretty toxic, negative, destructive force of Infowars and rebrand it as this beautiful place for our creativity,” Mr. Heidecker said in an interview. During a recent trip to Philadelphia, he traveled to the Liberty Bell to film a video in character as the new creative director of Infowars.

When I was in college in the early aughts, it was entirely frat boys. Different premise, same outcome.

If you came of age in the early aughts, DMB was virtually inextricable from the frat scene. I've long felt that more people would love DMB if it weren't for their (often accurate) perception of DMB fans.

Where did the notion of an "infinitely patient" AI tutor being a good thing come from? Sal Khan uses this. I've seen Marc Andreessen use it. It makes no sense. Some of the most important moments in my learning life was a teacher losing patience with me.
