I’m finally about done with The Universe Explained with a Cookie. Then it’s a series of neuroscience and learning because I’m an autistic teacher and I find it fascinating.

School was bad because it wasn't what I wanted it to be is one of the most selfish things I hear. School isn't about you. It's about society making an investment in its people because educated citizens are better ones.

Once again, for everyone who doesn't understand this. Schools are not free day care for your kids. That is not our job.

These were High School Freshman. I could have literally done with with Middle School kids 6 or 7 years ago and not had this struggle. I know because I did. I still have a good 15 years or so to retirement and its got so bad in just 6 or 7 years. I don't know how I make it.

I taught a lesson involving doing kinetic and potential energy calculations and they struggled and became almost helpless with scientific notation even when told specifically how to put it in a calculator.

I have a real fear of getting to the point where I have unteachable students. Behavior is part of it but the main thing is they will have such poor skills at basic math and reading that they literally are incapable of doing mid to high level science.

I took the one that puts the tile in the front of the auction so I always get the first cows. I went last the first few turns. It worked out because everyone got the level 1 techs so I just kept buying the Level 2 ones. It worked out well.

Been playing this game for like 10 years and this is my first time winning. I feel smart. 😀😝😜

Yeah, I know the consequences of a revolution and how they are not necessarily great. In the long term, I think France is better for it. The problem is the rich will never give up that wealth voluntarely and they own the government.

I know it hit some people the wrong way, but I really love that game. It's still the closest thing I think you can get to 18XX and still for sure be a Euro Game.

Picked up a Deluxe Copy of Chicago 1875 City of the Big Shoulders. I had an original kickstarter version before Quined Games got it. I was involved in playtesting and interviewd the designer when I still did a podcast.

Honestly, if the world goes old school French Revolution wealth redistribution, I won't even feel a bit sorry for billionaires. I'm not killing anyone, but if someone awful dies, I'm not going to pretend to be sad or respectful anymore.

If you are one of the other men, then you despise these people. When it finally hit home that dating for me was largely trying to convince a woman that I am not an awful man, I was really angry at how most men behave.

This was basically my Physical Education Experience in the 90s. Even worse if you got put on a team with them and they yelled at you the whole time. I once tanked a game I was on just to make them feel like shit for making me feel like shit.

I feel like I should just accept that the rest of my life is going to be garbage.

We should go back to a computer lab or a few carts. Make the teacher think if it is really worth the hassle. Is the computer thing I want to do really necessary? The more computers we have in classrooms, the worse people are with computers even.

So a video saying schools should not have Cell Phone bans. Basically, tech apologists and feelings. It's not about social media bullying. It's that they harm learning. Front-facing screens harm learning. The data is clear. Every kid having an ipad or laptop needs to stop to.

Part of me wonders if the amount of complaining about board game rules and questions on rules forums occurs because of the serious drops in reading levels. Not really sure where the hobby market age range is these days.

Space Stuff is probably one of my love science geek out topics. I am a biology major by trade. My big loves are Evolution, Big Bang, and Brain Science. I love how we got here, how we know that, and how we interpret that with our brains.

I learned in this image that the little bit of the moon you ccan see is not lit by sunlight but by sunlight bouncing off Earth and hitting the noon and I think thats awesome.

Just cause one plays games or even reviews games does not mean one knows how to design games. I have done both and I would remotly claim the third.

My autism reduces the likelihood I will do this. Though it gets me labeled as not a team player at school because I don’t jump on board with the latest educational bullcrap trends

I did stay at home parenting for a few years and it was hard. I teach at public school. My job was better and my teacher better before everything became team based and a bunch of admins telling me how to do my job.

Honestly I wish I could go back to that. To many people in my teaching business these days.
