This is the consequence of trying to be a right wing trans woman.

She’s cut herself off from every source of support, affirmation, or acceptance, and can only view herself through the lens of right wing hate, only see herself as a failed emulation of a cis woman.

What a tragic waste of a life.

fuck sam altman forever for taking away the last places where we could engage in good faith: the creative arts, which should be a testament to human ingenuity. i am so mad that everything i read or listen to or admire is now tainted with doubt. do you understand? he is a thief of joy and i HATE HIM

I despise with the heat of a thousand suns the way I have to be suspicious of all art I see now while I investigate it's authenticity, because this couldn't be more diametrically opposed to the state of mind one should be in while taking in all art.

Worried all this Peter Mandelson business is going to distract from whatever the hell Keir Starmer's policy agenda is, and could undermine confidence in him with his supporter.

Why are so many teams obsessed with the mouse and ignoring the elephant in the room?

The impact on software dev outcomes of working in smaller batches - developing & releasing fewer changes at a time - is so profound that it's genuinely puzzling why so few teams even think about pulling that lever.

Comic. [Person and person with white hat facing two boxes stacked with $80 price tag and sale tag on each box.] PERSON 1: They want $80 for this? I could make one myself for $10 in parts, an hour of work, a trip to the hardware store, another $30 in parts, another few hours of work, two more trips to the store for $20 more in parts, another hour of work to redo the first hour of work because I messed up, and $80 to buy this when the one I made breaks.

Incidentally, this feature appeared in an overnight Windows update which also added two new Copilot integrations to Windows which I did not want, ask for or have the choice to decline.

I'm so tired. So very, very tired.

This👇🏼. AOC is the only one stating it clearly and plainly. Do I have any faith that the American people will ever elect a woman president someday? No. I hope I’m proven wrong.

If you believe a war criminal on the run from the ICC and a convicted felon, adjudicated rapist and financial fraudster (who is most likely also a pedophile) are waging a moral and just war in the Middle East right now, I have some bad news for you.

You’re an idiot.

In the same manifesto, Palantir's owners argued that we need a national military draft, that soft power is over, and that we were too hard on Germany and Japan after World War II. I don't think that company should be allowed to exist anymore.

The Tech Radar is Blinking Red ThoughtWorks just dropped Volume 34 of their Tech Radar, and it reads less like a technology map and more like a warning letter. Several signals on the same screen, all pointing the same way. If you've been following my posts, none of them will surprise you. What's new is that one of the most respected consultancies in our industry is now saying it out loud.

The new ThoughtWorks Tech Radar reads like a warning letter. Cognitive debt. Broken productivity metrics. Terms nobody agrees on. If you've been reading my posts, none of it will surprise you. It's always nice to get evidence that I'm not completely crazy and making all of this up.

Claiming Labour have been forced into increasingly cruel and right wing policies is actually moving the Overton window. No one made them, they have a massive majority. This is what they want.

Whether Starmer goes is more a matter of politics than about the constitution, but the Prime Minister should properly account to Parliament for his own decision to appoint Mandelson.

His current approach of ducking, and blaming and sacking others, is a failure of prime ministerial responsibility.

Nesrine Malick in the Guardian gets it. There's no such thing as an evil genius with a master plan. Evil is almost always defined by pathetic, hollow people wielding power they should never have been allowed to have, whether that's by a gun or by the ballot box

Just a thought: How about we stop shaming the poor for buying things that may not be essential, and start shaming the rich for making a profit off things that are essential?

Keir Starmer says he had no idea he was prime minister when Peter Mandelson was hired as ambassador In a stunning admission, Sir Keir Starmer has revealed he had absolutely no clue he was prime minister when his old friend Peter Mandelson was appointed as ambassador to the US, last year.

That Sir Keir Starmer is apparently the only one who can lead Labour is not a sign of his competence but the inadequacies of the entire Parliamentary Labour Party.

Two hooded figures with lamps approach a moonlit, isolated cottage.
A woman answers the door.
We have come for the child, says the hooded figure
So soon? she asks
It is time, says the hooded figure.
The woman is distraught. We should never have got him a library card!
What is done cannot be undone, says the hooded figure
We couldn’t see the harm! We just wanted him to enjoy reading!
For most, it ends there, says the hooded figure, turning away and walking into the wilderness
Oh lord, What have I done! says the woman,
the child walks past her and out into the darkness with them.
Do not cry mother.
I am a writer now.

Just sobbed hardest I have since my mom died in 2020.

She missed these trials by a few months.

One of most ruthless cancers. Hard to fathom that maybe she'd still be here.

I feel such a hole inside.

In case you're wondering if we should fund mRNA research instead of another stupid war ... yes.

mRNA technology may be THE most underrated and unfairly scrutinized (fuck you COVID antivax crew) medical breakthrough in my lifetime.

Like... The things this is already showing it can do in the last 5-7 years is incredible.

I'm not joking when I say mRNA technology is more important than "AI" and it's a tragedy we're throwing billions into one while our government is aggressively defunding the other.

For those keeping track at home. The Iranians have now blockaded the Strait of Hormuz in response to the US blockading it because the Iranians had blockaded it, in response to the US attacking Iran to ensure that the Strait which was fully open at the time wasn't blockaded.
