I can watch the matches just fine, but to me, without commentary moving a story along, it’s just a singular match in a vortex by itself. If that makes any sense? I can watch the 1/20/97 Kobashi/Misawa match and love it. But the story beats and history between the two are lost on me, ya know?
It’s less about simply the calling of moves and more about the stories behind WHY they’re doing certain moves or the background of the match and why it’s important, etc. Let’s not act like commentary isn’t an art itself just because big Western companies treat it like an ad spot.
I follow some people on Twitter who do live translations but English commentary would still be ideal. Marigold does it every so often.
Give me English commentary too, and I’m absolutely down. I was kind of lost during the post-match stuff for Saya/AZM so having someone be able to tell me what was happening would’ve been great.
I know it’s one guy running the service, but I wish Stardom World was better than what it is.
