1/ If Justice Barrett thinks we need to go back to what the Founding Fathers intended, I’ve got news for her. Their biggest concern was avoiding tyranny. So they created 3 branches of gov’t & divvied up the power the people (that’s us) were allowing the gov’t to use to create order for all of us.

Let's be clear. Any YES vote on HR 1 right now is an uninformed partisan vote on a bill *no one* actually likes, with unknown terms and effects, for the simple purpose of giving an authoritarian leader a symbolic bill signing on July 4th.
Dahlia Lithwick calls that sort of decision “not being punched in the face.” As in, we’re glad not to have been punched in the face in this case, but it would be better if they made decisions that actually advanced democracy instead of us being glad when they make decisions that don’t destroy it.

Much as I would not dare to predict the consequences of this war, I do think we can summarize it thusly so far:
A smart and evil man manipulated a stupid and evil man into a war against a fanatical and evil regime.
The President's disastrous decision to bomb Iran without authorization is a grave violation of the Constitution and Congressional War Powers. He has impulsively risked launching a war that may ensnare us for generations. It is absolutely and clearly grounds for impeachment.
